DRGIII announced new DS9 novel on Facebook.

As requested by DRGIII a while ago, I'm not linking to his FB page, but announced 2015 will see a DS9 novel by David R George III. He will be announcing the title in the next few days. :D

I know some people are less pleased by his work of late, but I still love, so I'm psyched.

That's great news!

It's good to see the DS9 brand revived as of late, it's good that DRGIII takes the helm again for this assignment; and I hope we'll see the continuation of the storyline of Revelation and Dust.

Honestly, I can't imagine any other story involving DS9 that he'd write right now. Taran'atar!!!! :D :D :D

He could leave the cliffhanger unresolved and tell the Ascendants story instead.

After all these years, I don't really care anymore. I mean, it could be interesting, but I care more about moving forward now, not backward.

It seemed to me that the two are going to be told together, actually! The ending of Revelation and Dust seemed to strongly suggest that timey-wimey stuff is involved in the Ascendant conflict.

I think what DRGIII wanted was that you don't take images from his facebook, but instead provided the link back to his facebook page. He wants people to visit his facebook page.

Really ?

I've not read anything by him that wasn't at the least damned good. The trilogy Rough Beasts, Plagues of Night and Raise the Dawn is truly excellent.
Revelation and Dust may not have been the strongest part of The Fall series, but it was very much a set-up novel so that's hardly indicarive.

I'm with you man, completely! Some people don't like how there have been drastic changes in the lives of their favorite characters. But seriously, that's life. You DON'T stay in the same place forever. Houses DON'T last forever. You're NOT always friends with the same people forever. And even if you did, when it comes to fiction, that would make for awfully dreary novels.

'Ben Sisko had the same day he always had, where he woke up, went to work, came home, spend his evenings like he usually does, then went to bed. In the weekend, he had a bbq with some friends and family. On monday, the same proces repeated itself.'

Yes, I can see how novel after novel of stuff like that would be fun. Ofcourse I'm using an extreme example here, but still.

So yeah, bring it on!! More DS9 by DRGIII!!! :D

This is definitely exciting news. DRG3 has been doing a wonderful job with DS9 stories these last few years, and I can't wait to read more. I wonder if this has anything to do with the 24th century duology he was crafting that I remember hearing about? I guess we'll see :techman:

Great news! Revelation and Dust was a pretty good novel, it set up the new DS9 well, raised the possibility that the Prophets might not be finished with Sisko and established Odo with a purpose for remaining in the Alpha Quadrant.

This. Some people complained how R&D had a lot of stuff in it that had nothing to do with the entire 'The Fall' series. I got that, but I took that as a good sign, meaning more was to come.

This is wonderful news. It's really great we'll be getting another ds9 novel. I'm certainly curious to see how he continues the series where his last 2 Ds9 novels left off.:techman:

More straight forward for me - I just think he's a shit writer - it's not always about the in-universe stuff.

A few years ago the announcement of a new DS9 novel by DRG III would have excited me, these days my reaction is somewhere between :shrug:and :sigh:.

And here is the link to his Facebook post (as trampledamage is correct IIRC, he just don't want to be quoted or have covers etc. he posted reposted): https://www.facebook.com/DRGIII/posts/10152292152871493

I'm sorry, but this disappoints me greatly. He's had some excellent work in the past. But his The Fall novel was boring, made hardly any sense. For example writing page after page describing Bajoran Spring wine.

Deep Space Nine needs a writer like David Mack. I recently read Warpath and the book, despite reading it years before, kept me on the seat of my pants. I see Mack as the Ira Steven Behr of Deep Space Nine novels.

To balance that, it also needs a Kirsten M Beyer. Her latest Voyager book, was in my opinion, one of her best ever. Why? Because she actually loves Voyager. She's a Voyager fan, knows it's characters, and has a vision for the future of the Voyager novel line.

Revelations and Dust was a bad novel. But I love Star Trek, I care about what happens in these books and the people who write them. I think DRGIII is an excellent writer, so I'll buy this book when it comes out. All I ask is that he bring his A game like Kirsten M Beyer, David Mack, Dayton Ward, Una Mccormack and Christopher L Bennett. I don't think I've ever read a bad story from any of them. Whatever it is they have, I hope they share with DRGIII, and I hope to see a great DS9 story from him.

I feel bad saying this, because there have been some books he's written that kicks ass. But this is the last chance as far as he's concerned.
