A few years ago the announcement of a new DS9 novel by DRG III would have excited me, these days my reaction is somewhere between

and

.
And here is the link to his Facebook post (as trampledamage is correct IIRC, he just don't want to be quoted or have covers etc. he posted reposted):

I'm sorry, but this disappoints me greatly. He's had some excellent work in the past. But his The Fall novel was boring, made hardly any sense. For example writing page after page describing Bajoran Spring wine.
Deep Space Nine needs a writer like
David Mack. I recently read
Warpath and the book, despite reading it years before, kept me on the seat of my pants. I see Mack as the Ira Steven Behr of Deep Space Nine novels.
To balance that, it also needs a
Kirsten M Beyer. Her latest Voyager book, was in my opinion, one of her best ever. Why? Because she actually loves Voyager. She's a
Voyager fan, knows it's characters, and has a vision for the future of the
Voyager novel line.
Revelations and Dust was a bad novel. But I love Star Trek, I care about what happens in these books and the people who write them. I think DRGIII is an excellent writer, so I'll buy this book when it comes out. All I ask is that he bring his A game like
Kirsten M Beyer, David Mack, Dayton Ward, Una Mccormack and
Christopher L Bennett. I don't think I've ever read a bad story from any of them. Whatever it is they have, I hope they share with DRGIII, and I hope to see a great DS9 story from him.
I feel bad saying this, because there have been some books he's written that kicks ass. But this is the last chance as far as he's concerned.
