to be honest, star trek into darkness was pretty much a Kirk movie and I hoped that this would be more an ensemble or at the very least not demote Spock from co-protagonist from the first movie to yet again a supporting role.
I don't want it to be again another movie where I need to read the comics to know that Spock has a PTSD or where the crew doesn't interact because we only have scenes where Kirk interacts with them.

While I think this would be the most (ahem) logical way of getting Shatner & Nimoy as Kirk and Spock how could Shatner play Kirk Prime again (apart from a hologram) and do more than a cameo? It would be hard!!

I do like the idea of Spock Prime somehow getting back to his own time and space.

Shatner always looks healthy in makeup, but when you see him without it his complexion is red and splotchy. He's commented on his "big red face" somewhere in the recent past.

As for Nimoy, these days he almost doesn't need any help to look Vulcan.

I eye-rolled Old Spock's fan-service appearance in Into Darkness. I keep waiting for them to cut the cord, but they apparently aren't willing to do it. I think I'm done.

That is the only way I'd be happy for Shatner to appear too, otherwise it means we're getting treated to more bullshit time travel/nexus crap. Yes I know ST09's premise was time travel, but it wasn't central to the narrative once the film got under way and didn't bog the movie down like the Nexus.
