Do the ship studio models still exist?

Shaw hypothesizes that Robert Abel and Associates (who had apparantly been lent the model) tossed it thinking it was something built for Phase II, and which wasn't going to be needed for TMP.

Actually they both look like Shaw's recreation. The top one is just lit somewhat similar to the Viewmaster reel.

How did I not catch that? I'm embarrassed.

I don't think I'd ever appreciated that on the three-footer the teardrop is shallower and the bump for the decks below is more pronounced.

The three footer has a flattened top to the saucer--and had a flattened underside, where the lower sensor dome was. It was built up for the shot where it is on Flint's desk. A bit more rounded.

Oh, to have a time machine and a 3D scanner/replicator.
