What surprised me the most was I actually predicted the ending. When I saw the creature being held in chains, for some reason it reminded me of TNG's Encounter at Farpoint where they were forcing the space jellyfish to create things for them. Knowing the (previous) Doctors' compassion for abused life forms (space whale, dinosaur) I just thought that the story would follow something along those lines.

I think it was a decent episode but when I first got into NuWho, I started binge watching one episode after another on Netflix so it was nice to follow story arcs. Having to wait a week (and sometimes a year!) between episodes has somewhat of a negative effect on me.

I like that they haven't been beating us over the head with the arc. They laid the groundwork but haven't tried to shoehorn a scene into every episode.

At whatever point this arc comes to a head, I think we'll see those dead we didn't see in their given episodes.

He's working on the equation to freeze galifrey and he hasn't gone into the time war(day of the doctor) event in his timeline yet.
 
Who was the computer voice in the bank? It sounded to me like Alexander Armstrong (the voice of Mr. Smith from SJA), but I didn't see a credit in the BBC America showing.
 
A decent episode that is neither good or bad. That is, I can't find much to complain about, but I'm not going to gush over it either. The identity of the architect was pretty obvious. I'm not really clear, why did elderly Karabraxos get in contact with the Doctor to release the Teller and its mate?

And I see I was wrong with my earlier theory regarding Moffat having a co-writing credit. That is, I believed he was inserting Missy scenes into other people's scripts, but Moffat co-wrote this one and no Missy. I'm guessing then that he gets co-writing credit for episodes with scenes connecting to the arc with Clara and her relationship with Danny, which this episode does have. Also, Moffat is co-writer of next week's which seems to be all about that.

Not bad. If they run that route, they shouldn't have him do it till he regenerates. His last act as it where.

For some reason, I got the impression he was working out the equations to bring Gallifrey home.
 
I liked it, even though I guessed both major reveals. It was a fun the whole way through. I don't think it's entirely clear how the Doctor got the suitcases there, though, even after everything's been established.

Presumably it's no problem for the TARDIS to access most areas of the bank, it was just the solar flares messing up the navigation they couldn't use it during the actual heist.
 
I enjoyed it a lot actually. I think it hinged on the twist at the end, and while I did suss out that the Doctor was the mysterious Architect, I didn't' realize why he set up the heist. I thought it was really sweet that the whole thing was set up to release that Alien and his mate.

So yes, this episode worked really well for me, that's two in a row that I've really loved. Now I can't wait for next weeks.
 
Very good standalone episode.

I did have the Doctor pegged as the Architect from very early on, and the moment they said the Teller was the last of his kind I realized the Doctor was there to rescue him. But it was still a very cool premise with a great mystery to begin with.

Also, it was great to see a remake of Farscape's "Plan B" :lol:

Same guy as the "Information" Hosts in "Voyage of the Damned", Colin MacFarlane.
 
I loved that episode and Peter Capaldi might have my favorite line in the show, when he was talking about the calories in the TARDIS not counting:

Clara: You're Kidding
Doctor: Of course I am it's a Time Machine not a Miracle Worker :guffaw:

This episode was like Doctor Who meets Ocean's Eleven Meet's TNG's Alligance. It was a lot of fun and I didn't see the reveal coming. I also was reminded of End of the World (The very first episode of Doctor Who I saw) in terms of quirkiness and just fun. This is my favorite episode of this series so far, and I think I'm now fully on the Peter Capaldi train. He's a great doctor with some witty dialog and an insane attitude.
