Supergirl TV Series is being work on.

For some reason precrisis, Superman hired human actors to pretend to be Lara and Jor-El just arrived on earth by Flying Saucer, and then the man of steel faked their super powers during a press conference to dupe the public.

How do pet-owner relationships work on Krypton?

With humans, with issues, it's like adoption, their dog is their family and even children... Or it's like slavery? But even in Django Unchained there were familial relationships generated between slave and slave owner.

Which if Jor-El owned/adopted Krypto, it would make Krypto Kara's cousin, but if Clark Adopted/owned Krypto, it would make the Dog and the little blone girl's 2nd cousins.

This thinking gets real frakked up with cats.

It's the owr way around.

Cat's own people.

Streaky the Super Cat is Superman's aunt.

A year ago almost to the day, it was announced that a new show called "Gotham" would by-pass the pilot phase and go straight to series. Now we've got the same situation with Supergirl.

How will they work Superman into it? I'm sure he'll be mostly off-screen but will we ever see him? And what does this mean for Supergirl in the DC movies?

Streaky isn't from Krypton. He's a Earth cat who gained super powers after being exposed to an altered form of Kryptonite.

Damn, why do I know this?

The AV Club:
CBS’ series commitment to Supergirl is not the same as a series order for Supergirl [...] In this deal, if CBS doesn’t pick up Supergirl, it’ll have to pay a significantly penalty.

Are Jonathan and Martha Kent the uncle and aunt of Supergirl?

It doesn't matter where Streaky was born.

But, thank you for the knowledge.

The Kents were dead by the time Supergirl turned up. So I don't think she met them. I supposed they'd be the adoptive Aunt and Uncle, had they'd been alive. Which would make the Danvers' Superman's adoptive Aunt and Uncle as well.

That all depends on which continuity you adopt. DC has dug its own grave regarding adaptations of the comics by starting the complete "crisis" reboot thing back in 1985.

Millennium was on the Shelves the first time I walked into a Comic Book speciality shop.

I am a baby.
My first comic was bought off a spinner rack in a convenience store.

I'm old.

Ditto.

Convenience store.

But that doesn't count as collecting.

With a few exceptions, because my friends are assholes, which is 30 books at most, I still have every comic book I bought between 1988 and 2006 (50 thousand books?) (2007 is when I went totally digital.), in numbered, alphabetized boxes, in a line of sight from where I am sitting right now.

True, post Crisis we had Mae/Matrix the Supergirl from the Pocket Universe who lived with the Kents as a daughter for awhile. Then Peter David got his hands on her and she merged with Linda Danvers and became an Earth bound Angel ( what????) Then Kara Zor-el shows up to take the mantel.

Well the fact it's got the exec producer of Arrow and Flash behind it makes me think it's chances are probably pretty good. Since they've actually got experience with these kinds of shows (unlike, say, David E Kelley).

The more I think about it, David must have taken a dive.

What sort of Moron insists Cary Elwes fakes an American accent?

If that description is what we actually end up getting, then I am kind of glad Superman is going to be on the show, their relationship seems to be a pretty big part of Kara's character. I just hope if he is actually a character on the show, they don't have him on so much that he ends up overshadowing Supergirl.

Superman in the 50s... "Um, hide. Pretend to be human. No one can know that you are here and I am not unique and special any more. You're my secret weapon. Oh, and if you do accidentally save the world, try to make it look like the wind did something peculiar because the world might love me less if they knew about you."

Seriously!

The nonsarcastic instinct was that if his enemies knew bout her, that they could use her as a hostage against him and take over he world.

Seriously?

Superman is a Dick.

Gotta disagree. The movies and TV shows are their own thing anyway. They can just pick and choose whatever they want from the various comic-book versions.

And the basic concept behind Supergirl is very simple and uncomplicated: She's Superman's kid cousin from Krypton. That's all the average TV viewer knows or needs to know to enjoy a SUPERGIRL series.

Take a baby from today, and a thirteen year old from today.

Let's just say that they're cousins.

They both go to live on Hypothetical Mars with the hypothetical Martians who are nothing like real DC Martians, who basically think that's it's 1560.

Due to bad directions, the baby is 30 years old before the thirteen year old shows up, who is still a 13 year old.

Who's going to be in charge?

The 30 year old with the 16th century education, or the 13 year old with the 21st century education?

I'm old enough to remember when comics were twelve cents apiece and you bought them off spinner racks at 7-Eleven and Rexall Drugs. If you played your cards right, or had a little extra cash, you could maybe squeeze in a Slurpee, too.

Ten-cent comics were (slightly) before my time.
