    Way to go, dub!

teacake, I love the juxtaposition of the natural lines of the tree versus the lines and angles of the building...

I don't know about an angel, but it looks more like she's trying to learn disco.

^ Yeah, I got lucky with that one! :)

Also, you'll notice the street in Times Square to my left has been closed to vehicular traffic. IIRC, they are gradually doing this throughout the entire square. This is an EXCELLENT idea, IMHO. (Hell, I almost wish they'd do this throughout all of Manhattan!) It's making things a lot less cluttered there. And it makes for a great place to just chill out and watch the people go by. Times Square may be a kitschy tourist trap, but it can be surprisingly calm in the mornings.

And let's be honest, who the hell wants to drive in a city like this, anyway?

The Times Square construction has made things really hectic in that area ... but getting there early in the morning? That's the perfect time. The thing is, though, the vast majority of Manhattan isn't like Times Square. So while making Times Square more pedestrian friendly makes sense, that certainly wouldn't apply to most of the rest of the island. In fact, there are parts of Manhattan where vehicular traffic is comparatively light, so it would make sense to drive.

Still, great photos MLB! I'm glad you got to enjoy Citi Field and Yankee Stadium. Did you get to see Jeter play? Even though I'm a Mets fan, seeing The Captain™ play would have been worth the trip, methinks.

^ Yep, I saw Jeter play this year. (Last year, he was already on the DL by the time I got there and I never saw him.)

I wish I could be there next week - Jeter's last game in Yankee Stadium is this Thursday. That's going to be off the charts.

Also, I'm a Yankees *and* Mets fan. Apparently this is unusual. But I don't care - I'm not a New Yorker and could never claim to be, so I don't discriminate on teams. :p

Something interesting about Times Square, though: At least one of those buildings (One Times Square, the iconic building with the New Year's Eve ball and the scrolling news display) is empty, except for a Walgreens on the ground floor. It's much more valuable for the ad space on the outside.

In NYC, that's very unusual.

Then again, native NYC sports fans are far from rational. ;)

Regarding building vacancy ... that's a surprisingly common problem, even for the tallest, more iconic buildings in the city. The New York Times building has a problem with vacancy. So does the Bank of America tower near Bryant Park. And a lack of tenants is why 2 World Trade hasn't even begun construction yet.
