Counterpoint

I am guessing particle synthesis would seem more real than the average hologram but still "fake" but some people can be fake too. LOL.

But it's still more personal than a hologram because she refuses to go home with you and makes it very obvious she has her own life that has nothing to do with you. And if you cross some line you are tossed from the club.

Shades of Grey!

Men are perfectly prepared to suspend disbelief in exchange for an orgasm.

Magazines and movies don't have personalities.

And it's such a relief how my January 1990 copy of Playboy has never overreacted no matter how many times I call it a dirty little ####ing slut.

...

Consider TNG 11001001? Which is the first episode the holodeck was capable of giving Picard and Riker a boner. The Bynar upgrades had given it a little more grunt and reality, which means that everyone who had sex in there for the first 13 episodes before 11001001 was a moron who might as well have been humping a pillow, compared with what was to follow.

God I'm glad I'm not the only one who noticed that weird vibe in that episode. Some of those scenes, especially after Picard enters the holodeck too and we see Minuet overtly flirting with him while Riker just sits there smiling, seemingly as horny as hell about this idea of sharing a girl with his Captain, are enough to launch a thousand different pieces of 'fan fiction'!!! :D

One thing I will say for Captain Kathy and her romance-holo-fantasies: she generally tries to keep them to herself, she doesn't share any of them with her crew. Well, for the most part, anyway. Fair Haven might as well be a brothel. But then, that one *was* created by Tom Paris.....

I am wondering a bit about the 'true' intentions behind the creation of that Leonardo DaVinci holo-programme, now. As a former eager science officer, it doesn't surprise me that Kathy might get hot for somebody like him. :shifty:

You know I'm all for the story of being the artist's muse and bedmate, it has many charms, but that guy was waaaaay too hairy and shapeless in a not-good way. I'd rather do Hagrid.

I doubt Janeway had the hots for Leo. He was one of the historical figures that she was inspired by. Though I wonder, if at any time she felt something for Q. They would have made an interesting pair!

Yeah Marla McGivers she wasn't. When Janeway was inspired by someone she wanted to be that someone, achieve like they did. Not just have sex with them.

This is why Janeway is totally different from me, and probs wouldn't even notice me if we met. Goals.

Later in that very same episode when it was time to blow up the ship, Riker and Picard had to stick their card keys into the main computer at the same time.

More of the same fair?

Oh, don't be silly, you let me get away with murder.

Did Kashyk say that he engineered the rescue of those refugees by Voyager?

Because that's entrapment.

She only thought that because of starfleet brainwashing. It's sad.

What brainwashing exactly? Probably not at the Academy, but is there supplemental instruction offered to fast track officers along the lines of "Tactical Lothario Lessons" as dictated by James Kirk?

Star Trek knows that there's a stick up its ass.

KIM: We were warned about the Ferengi at the Academy.
QUARK: Warned about Ferengi, were you?
KIM: That's right.
QUARK: Slurs about my people at Starfleet Academy.
KIM: What I meant was
QUARK: Here I am, trying to be a cordial host, knowing how much a young officer's parents would appreciate a token of his love on the eve of a dangerous mission, and what do I get for my trouble? Scurrilous insults. Well, somebody's going to hear about this. What's your name, son?

I'm just amazed that I didn't realize Mark Harlik was Dr. Gablehauser of Big Band Theory. I liked him on that!
