2014 MLB Season: How Many Pitchers Will Die For Our Sins?

That's true. There is a lot more pressure on us than on y'all. Plus we play another series in your stadium next weekend I believe.

So the Red Sox just signed Rusney Castillo, the latest Cuban "phenom," to a six-year, $72 million deal. I'm not entirely surprised after they missed out on Jose Abreu, but I hope Castillo doesn't wind up being the first of these guys to bust. Someone (I don't know who, exactly) described him as "Brett Gardner with power," a comparison I'm rather skeptical of since "Brett Gardner with power" would be one of the best players in baseball. But we'll see how it goes.

 

I think the Red Sox have decided to move on from Jackie Bradley. Which is too bad, I like him a lot, but for some reason he just hasn't been able to figure out how to hit Major League pitching. I wouldn't be surprised if he becomes part of some package in an offseason trade for a pitcher. As for Betts, I don't think they've given up on him yet, since they haven't really given him much time yet to show what he can do.

 

And the Jays continue their freefall.

And somehow the GM and manager are expected to keep their jobs next season.

not sure about Castillo, but happy to see the move. Sox have the payroll flexibility, and these are the kinds of moves they need to make occasionally. And OF FAs aren't looking special, and we're not deep in the minors there, so why not? Agree with sentiment that hope it isn't a makeup call for missing on Abreu. Abreu would have been a perfect fit, and would have meant not resigning Napoli (not bad, just was at the same time, so would have been a wash there).

See what the offseason brings, but looks like Bradley is going to have to go somewhere, or stay in the minors for depth for now Amazing glove, bat isn't ready yet. Certainly shaping up for the Sox to make a big move somewhere, though....

 

Manny will be missed, but the O's hopefully will find a way to keep plugging away.

Now he's had a third major injury to his knees. Not that its any excuse for throwing a bat, but he was reacting to a second close call to his knees in a matter of days. If I were that young with that much talent, I'd be upset if an opposing team was going after my knees.

Now the folks who said he got what he deserved can come out and gloat.

I only surprised has actually has 4BB. For a while, his BA & OBP were the same.

I don't understand how an owner is allowed to run a team into the ground and they just let him buy another one?

Mike Trout's production seems to be flat-lining as well.

I am really concerned that the eventual winner of the AL West will be so bloodied by the end of the season that they will get swept by the Royals or O's.
