Re: New Casting and Story Rumors re: EPISODE VII Ha ha, well for that we'll make an exception and let them use CGI.
Re: New Casting and Story Rumors re: EPISODE VII Looking through the set pics again I feel like there should be a Star Wars Burning Man promotion.
Re: New Casting and Story Rumors re: EPISODE VII The unofficial name for the huge pig creature that's picking up a little steam online is "Hoggsquattle". Let's go with it.
Re: New Casting and Story Rumors re: EPISODE VII Well, SW has a lot less canon than ST - only the 6 movies, The Clone Wars, and soon Rebels - so there is a lot less to adhere to.
Re: New Casting and Story Rumors re: EPISODE VII I read somewhere that Ewan mcgregor was upset about Moulin Rouge sets being torn down immediately for Star Wars http://twodiamonddogs.tripod.com/a/ewarticle2.html
Re: New Casting and Story Rumors re: EPISODE VII There was a rumor-which I think was kind of a myth-that there was an 'alternate ending' for ROTJ which had the Falcon and Lando destroyed by the Death Star destruction. Because Han said "I got a funny feeling I'm not going to see her again" in ROTJ, and some felt Lando needed a heroic sacrifice to atone for his ESB betrayal. I think it's been debunked, though.
Re: New Casting and Story Rumors re: EPISODE VII I believe in very early versions of the story Lando and the Falcon would sacrifice themselves in the Death Star but Lucas wanted a happy ending. Harrison Ford also wanted his character to die in the movie as well but I don't think that ever made it into a script.
Re: New Casting and Story Rumors re: EPISODE VII No. There is no version where he dies. There is however a fake version of the ROTJ screenplay that does have that.
Re: New Casting and Story Rumors re: EPISODE VII If Abrams wants to keep this film's plot secret a better strategy would be fake versions than what he did with Khan. Release multiple fake versions of the plot and even if the real one surfaces people won't know which one is correct.
Re: New Casting and Story Rumors re: EPISODE VII Harrison wanted George to kill off Han early in the script for Jedi so his character could commit heroic self-sacrifice on behalf of his friends (and also that would leave everybody wondering who else might die in the film if Han Solo were to perish early on in the story, theoretically making the movie more thrilling), but George was insistent on keeping Han and others alive so that, as another poster just said, the Trilogy would have a happy ending. In hindsight I'm glad the film ended the way it did. Anakin's heroic self-sacrifice to save his son, destroy the Emperor and - in retrospect after viewing the Prequel Trilogy - fulfill the Jedi prophecy and bring balance to the Force was plenty enough, and it allowed all three of the main heroic leads to return for Episode VII more than thirty years later.
Re: New Casting and Story Rumors re: EPISODE VII She'll make point-five past lightspeed. She may not look like much, but she's got it where it counts, kid.
Re: New Casting and Story Rumors re: EPISODE VII Just out of curiosity, did they ever explain why it's called the Millennium Falcon? It sounds cool but cryptic.
Re: New Casting and Story Rumors re: EPISODE VII I think George, who is/was into cars. Owned a Ford Falcon when he was young that he was very fond of.
Re: New Casting and Story Rumors re: EPISODE VII Haha, that note from JJ is freakin awesome. And something I just realized, but given that Han is supposed to have a major role in this film, it's possible we could get to see more of the Falcon than ever before as well.
Re: New Casting and Story Rumors re: EPISODE VII It's not everyday we get slipped a note Dejarik-style. Nice.
Re: New Casting and Story Rumors re: EPISODE VII So now the Chronicle guy is directing one of the spinoffs. http://www.comingsoon.net/news/movienews.php?id=119118
Re: New Casting and Story Rumors re: EPISODE VII Slightly embarrassing bit of personal trivia: As a kid I thought the Millennium Falcon was made out of some kind of fancy metal called "millennium".
