Interesting question. I'd assume not, but I did notice that in a recent video clip, that she did pronounce the name "Uhura" with a decided accent -- pure vowels and slightly trilled "r," very similar to a Spanish accent.

I noticed that, too. "Hey, that's not GenAm!". Is she an American? Didn't bother to check on imdb yet.

She was born in New Jersey so she's American.

Thanks. Now this got me interested. I wonder if she's going to "do" an accent, and whether it is phonetically plausible.
