Zero-ing on what made TOS so great.

By going right through it? They are destroying it and recreating it - resynthesizing it - ressurecting it, with the same piece of cloth. I hope they don't turn beautiful material into a bib for the kids. The problem with TOS was not the universe, the characters or the production values so changing them means nothing - Great story - great music - great chemistry. The rest is meaningless. But details and vision are a must and are the universe itself and must be artistic. I've liked everything I've seen thus far though.

Ah, Trek wasn't very good. It was hackneyed social commentary, really several years behind the times. The acting was substandard and the writing childish. No one can enjoy the show these days due to the lousy effects and silly plots.

Only a complete revamp can possibly bring back any interest in a franchise that should have died long ago.

Right?

Right?

My friend, you just covered yourself in barbecue sauce, shoved your pockets full of beef, pork and lamb, and walked into the den of a wild Grizzly Bear.

Good luck.

What should we put on his tombstone? Also should we send flowers?

I hate it when RL interferes that way.

What does trekkies trying to score with girls have to do with RL?

Everything. You'll note I said trying to score with girls. I made no indication that I was successful.

What, the girls weren't impressed by your BSG DVD collection?

Anyhoo...what made Trek great was one thing: The fight music from Amok Time. If that music is not in the movie, then the childhood rapage shall be in full effect.

This is gonna be a mission Impossible movie with James Bond music. They're still a couple of movies behind, but they're catching up.

Question. Was TOS broken? or did it need to be broken to fix it. ie is there something wrong with the formula, the premise? Why not do a second five year mission so the redesign would make sense?

Well, they filmed a scene at Vasquez Rocks, another important part of TOS's legacy. Does that lessen the 'rapage' a little bit?

No.

IT MAKES IT WORSE.

No. Now, while we're experiencing the traumitizing event of having our childhoods raped, we're going to see the familiar sights of Vasquez Rocks, remember the good memories that are assoicated this that, and realize the horrible circumstances we're now in (childhood being raped) and the pain is going to hurt that much worse.

As if the new Enterprise's futher extended engineering hull doing the raping would hurt like hell as it is.
