Zachary Quinto

The only things by JJ Abrams I've seen are the first 2 seasons of Lost and M:I 3. I think Lost was very well cast. He and and his casting director put together a great ensemble of relative unknowns. I know nothing about Mr. Quinto, so I will just have to trust Abrams on this.

Funny, when I see Quinto's bushy eyebrows I think of early episode, bushie eyebrow, Spock!

Hey... the guy is canon, eyebrow wise. That's gotta be a sign. :D

You mean WNMHGB? :p

Those eyebrows are nowhere near bushy enough to satisfy Quinto's fans at TWOP, who are freaking out at the thought of Sylar's brows being savagely pruned...I posted that pic to scare em, hee hee. :D

SO fun taunting Heroes fans. I have no loyalty.

I think he'll be great as Spock. And I bet after about 10 minutes of watching this movie we'll completely accept all of these OTHER new actors as these characters too.

It's still a bit strange NOW of course, but in a year's time we'll all be a lot more used to the idea.

I wasn't sure until I saw the video of him with Nimoy, their stature is identical. Amazing.

Everytime I hear about the people at TWOP they sound like a bunch of worry wart twits.

Good lord. I never heard of him before any of this. Maybe he will be absolutely fantastic. But why anyone would already go into paroxysms of delight is beyond me.

Yeah. They're a lot like us. :D

It's just the sheer relief of realizing this whole thing isn't (likely) to be blown. This is confirmation that JJ Abrams isn't totally INSAAA-AAANE and willing to do something completely idiotic like cast Aston Kutcher and Seth Green in the roles. Before this, we had nothing but blind faith to go on. I'm feeling a whole lot better about all of this now - I'd be surprised if his choice for Kirk was entirely off the mark.

A lot of us really like him as Sylar on Heroes.

It was easy for me to accept Quinto as the new Spock. Nimoy has a unique, yet common look (lanky, soft eyes, prominent nose). They could have had all sorts of actors for Spock, from Michael Rosenbaum to Josh Hartnett (although I'm glad they went with a lesser known actor). I'm worried, nay, absolutely terrified that I'll never be able to accept another actor as James T. Kirk, even if they went with an unknown (although that would lessen the blow). This scares me as I don't want to be one of those guys. Those uber hard-core purist geeks that has to have it their way because of how narrow-minded they are. I don't want to be that, but it is a possibility I might not have control over. It's like waking up one morning in an Alien movie and not knowing if you have an insectoid fetus inside you that may or may not burst open from your torso at any minute. I want to survive and bang Sigourney Weaver at the end. Sure, in theory you could tell someone like that to simply "get over it". I'm fully aware this movie is for the good of the Star Trek franchise, and if Leonard Nimoy approves of the script, it has to be good. But it's still like asking a crack-addict of 10 or 20 years to give up the smack cold turkey. And if it didn't work for Lindsay Lohan...
