YouTube question.. please help

Flying Spaghetti Monster

Vice Admiral
Admiral
Hi,
No matter which computer I use, my YouTube homepage no longer recommends videos. Also I was told to use the add/remove modules option on my account, but that doesn't exist.

Can someone please help?

Youtube seems to do this to me, too, whenever it feels like it. Mostly recommendations, sometimes not. And I'm not running a current version of IE (so I assume upgrading won't solve your problem).

I assume you've tried the obvious and cleared your cookies and temp files and restarted the computer? A great little program, by the way, Temp File Cleaner:

Thanks, yes. I've tried things like that. It should be noted that this is happening to my youtube page no matter which of my computers I use. After clearing my entire history, cache, everything, nothing changes.

My contention is that I don't think it has anything to do with the caches of individual computers. It has to do with youtube itself.

Maybe Youtube just doesn't like you. ;-)

Did you check the block sites list on the bottom of the page (the eye with the Ghostbusters red circle over it) to make sure nothing Youtube related is blocked? Even some (some, though not all) Google related things will lead to improper display of Youtube.

Likewise some ad-blocking programs can cause the suggestions panel to not display right or at all.

Well, to paraphrase Kirk:

What does Flying Spaghetti Monster need with recommendations?

I've tried it, but again /I don't think it has to do with adblocking software. I'm getting the same homepage display (with no recommendations or any way to select modules) on both my Chromebook and my desktop.

Sorry, I guess I can't help.

By the way, has somebody elose tried logging into their Youtube account on your computer, just to see what happens?

Where's the thread bomb: Where's Your Flying Speghetti Monster now?
;-)

I use Firefox, and I get recommendations... but they often have nothing in common with what I usually watch.

It's very odd that that is suddenly happening. I've never heard of Youtube switching or changing preferences on their own accord. Maybe you changed a setting in your Google account that caused this. I can't see anything in my Youtube panel options to enable or disable recommendations.

As Kirk said: "This is damn peculiar..."

EDIT:
Check this out -- maybe you somehow paused it; try the reverse of what she shows in the end of the video:

Thanks for the tip, but my viewing history wasn't paused. I clicked it, then unclicked to be sure, but I still didn't get any recommended videos on my homepage.

What's odd is that the areas to manage modules also disappeared...

"The prefix code?"
"It's all we've got"
