Your what ifs/elseworlds/AU's

Trek's given us lots of fun (and some shite) "What If...?" stories. The Mirror Universe, the Myriad Universe books and the new movie series are all what if's. "Parallels" gave us lots of little peeks into other possibilities, incuding one where the Borg won, a few where Picard had died and a few where Worf and Troi hooked up.

I'd have liked to see the TOS movies go in a direction similar to DC Comics' post-STIII continuity, where Kirk and crew command the USS Excelsior, and Spock the USS Surak, rather than have had STIV's big reset button Enterprise-A ending.

I'd also liked a 24th century mirror universe like the one in Dark Mirror, where the Empire never fell, rather than the farcical DS9 version.

Anyone else wish certain things went a different way?

There was a point where I thought Sisko, Bashir and Dax would end up carrying the movie torch on the Enterprise.

A VOY eps where a different group of people lived/died after the Caretaker incident in the pilot.

The First Officer, CMO, Chief Engineer live... the Captain, the Security Chief die, or some other random selection.
Just to see what it would or could have been like.

More Stadi, is what I'm trying to say.

TNG's "Parallels" is a great well for ideas of that nature. See my signature for one such fanfic example. :)

In a fanfic I wrote called "Convergence", I had our universe and three others all come together inside a subspace sinkhole. It was really as a device to get back characters I liked who had been killed off :)

Universe Beta - (2375) The Circle was successful in forcing Starfleet off of DS9 and had since sealed their borders. The Maquis had declared themselves an independent nation known as the Colonial Alliance. Voyager hadn't been lost. Instead of taking ships into the Delta Quadrant, the Caretaker had loaded the Ocampa onto Kazon Motherships and sent them out into the galaxy. One such convoy was then encountered by Voyager.

Universe Gamma - (2371) Locutus and the Borg were successful in assimilating Earth. It didn't take long for the Federation and other major powers to fall. The survivors are crammed into ships, always running in a desperate attempt to survive.

Universe Delta - (2274) Voyager VI never vanished, so there was no V'Ger. Decker remained in command of the Enterprise, he went on to marry Ilia, and was leading his first five-year mission.

Not so much wished, but kind of thought back in 1999 or so that Series V would have been "Star Trek: The Lost Generation" and would have featured the Enterprise-B (either with Harriman or a different captain) in a time set during the closing of the 23rd-Century and start of the 24th.

Recently, though, I'd been thinking about what if Star Trek XI had featured the same cast playing the same (but different named) characters aboard an Enterprise-F.

Mine might look a little like this:

I would've liked to have seen an AU where Captain Picard died on Veridian III and Kirk got command of the Enterprise-E. Just seeing things from his point of view... peace with the Klingons, the Borg, the Dominion... seeing how a badass 23rd century captain deals with 24th century problems would have been interesting. Plus, maybe he could've knocked that whine-bag Riker down a few pegs.

I always thought it would be funny to have the entire personnel roster of starfleet replaced with Star Trek fans. Lots of common sense would ensue but so would a lot of hi-jinks. Voyager would be back to the alpha quadrant in a week.

Lately I've been imagining an AU that includes all our favorite characters, but in different situations and different positions. In this AU of my imagination, the crews are very different.

Enterprise E/D
Captain Benjamin Sisko
Commander Chakotay
Lieutenant K'Ehleyr - Security/Tactical
Doctor Geordi LaForge - Ship's Counselor
Neelix - Ten Forward Bartender

Deep Space Nine
Captain Edward Jellico
Major Kira Nerys - XO
Doctor Beverly Crusher - CMO
Lieutenant Jadzia Dax - Science Officer (Curzon Dax was an old friend of Jellico's)
Plain, Simple, Dukat - an innocent computer repair specialist, definitely not a semi-retired spy...

I had a bunch more ideas, but I have them typed out on a different computer and can't remember them right now.
