Your thoughts on "Wolverine and the X-Men"?

****Did they ever explain how Polaris is ALSO Magneto's daughter?
Presumably he slept with her mother. We've never really been given any information on her family history, so, no, they've never gotten into it.

The comics have gone back and forth over the decades on whether Lorna was Magneto's daughter -- first she thought she was, then it turned out she wasn't, then it was revealed she was again. I think that's the current or recent status quo, which would be why the show is emulating it.

Incidentally, I like WatXM's present and future versions of her.

I don't like the future version in Magneto's helmet. Its red clashes badly with her green eyebrows (and clothes, I think).

Have they still not even finished the first Season in the US?

Apparently not. Still five episodes to go. Luckily, they'll be airing over the next five consecutive weeks.

^^ Yeah I saw that on a website, but when I do a search on Amazon I can't find it. I just tried it again. I'm convinced it doesn't exist ;) Do you by chance have a link to the product?

There is no US box set at the moment. They're releasing volumes one at a time. Vols 1 & 2 are the only ones avaliable now. Since Nicktoons hasn't finished airing the season, you may as well wait instead of wasting $$$ on individual volumes.

Ah, it's on Amazon-Canada! Ugh I'd have to sign up there just to buy that even though I have an Amazon-US account. Grr. Also with the currency could I even buy this with my yankee dollars? What does 45 CDN work out to in US Dollars?

they shouldn't wait that long...when the first 8 episodes aired on TV they posted ALL of them on their website, but within the last few months they took them down.

^Well, for one thing, WatXM isn't aimed at younger kids. It's a primetime show that skews toward an audience of older children and teens. Heck, the storyline for this season involves an imminent war that destroys the entire world. So this isn't being made for 6-year-olds.

Besides, how does Wolverine make it on a "kids' show?" Through the discretion of the writers. He's still implicitly a dangerous man, but the stories are constructed so that he doesn't actually kill anybody.

How the begeesus is Deadpool gonna make it onto a kids show?

he's already appeared in those direct to DVD animated movies last year or so; he was pretty good to

the point of Deadpool is that he's "self-consciously making fun of tropes" - i.e. when the whole team assembles he quips "strike a pose" before knowingly making action poses

they sort of flirt with the idea from the comics that he is a fully self-aware character who KNOWS he's a comic book character, but doesn't really care

Except that the direct-to-DVD animated movies from Marvel and DC are aimed at an older audience than anything they do on television; they usually have PG-13 ratings, and Hulk Vs. was no exception. So it's not quite analogous.

Question: is the name "Deadpool" supposed to, oh, I don't know, mean anything? I mean, what has a pool got to do with deadness? It's a weird juxtaposition of terms.

Oh, wait a minute... reading up on him, it seems like he was conceived as a parody (or simply an imitation?) of DC's Deathstroke. Stroke... pool... was this some kind of tortured swimming-related pun on Liefeld's part?

Isn't there a Clint Eastwood movie called Deadpool? I think it refers to a pool (collection) of betting/gambling?

The "deadpool" at Weapon X was a betting thing regarding inmates not regarded as very useful by management.

He wasn't a parody of Deathstroke so much as another of Liefeld's rip-off characters.

Anyway, Deadpool's easy to do for kid's animation. His signature thing is fourth-wall-breaking and being comicly crazy, neither of which pose a problem.

Oh, that's right. It's actually The Dead Pool, which Wikipedia tells me is the final Dirty Harry film. And it's named for, yes, a type of betting pool pertaining to when someone will die or which person will die next.

So it's not as much a typical Liefeldesque gibberish character name as I thought. Sure sounds like one, though.

(While we're on the subject, why the hell is Cable called Cable? How are we supposed to be impressed or intimidated by a guy who sounds like his purpose in life is to deliver reruns and home shopping channels to your living room? Though on second thought, that's a pretty intimidating concept... :D )

I always assumed it was because Cable was the thread(cable) that held everything together. Jean, Cyclopes, Phoenix, Rachel, Mother Asknai, Mr. Sinister, Apocalypse, Ahab, Madie Pryor, Stryfe all = Cable. It's like half the history of the X-Men is all rests on him coming to be and fullfilling his destiny.

I always thought of "Cable" as a big huge cable in a suspension bridge, thick and invincible and holding the weight of the world on its shoulders.

Your US Amazon account works across ALL of the various Amazon sites. I believe they make you reenter your credit card info as a security precaution though. I've ordered things from Amazon CA, Amazon UK, and Amazon FR without any problems. One of the best things is that the sites are all set up the same, so as long as you can find the item you want to order, you don't really need to be able to read the language.
