Okay..I started a thread on this subject WAY back in december and it got closed for a good reason..the movie was too far off...But now that we are in the two month window and most if not all the trailers are out, i think we can now make ROTTENTOMATOE guesses as to where TREK's numbers will be...

You can guess your own and/or vote in the poll..

I don't think JJ will be "banished to TV forever" but I think the "top critics" will be far less kind than the general group the site uses and the overall average will be around 60 for that reason.

Dude..that would not be good. Especially with DARK KNIGHT comparisons being thrown around...man I hope you're wrong. But I could easily see it going your way too...

Rob

I agree with Ovation... It will be unfairly rated lower due to a very vocal self-selected sample.

I think it will revitalise Star Trek.

With a first class budget and a creative team that has already delivered several box office hits, Star Trek will be in good shape for the next few years.

With full studio backing by making this a summer tent pole movie, all that remains are for the theatre seats to be occupied and pop corn sold.

Cheers

Honestly, if it is rated 70% or more, I think that is a success, and would be positive enough to convince some fence sitters to go.

Just to review:
Nemesis 37%
Insurrection: 56%

Looking back, it is hard to believe that more critics thought Insurrection was better than Nemesis.

Yikes...What do you think KHAN and FIRST CONTACT would have gotten had there been a RT back then?

Rob

Even if rated at Paul Blart levels, is the people who will decide how much it makes.

But I'd say 70% and up optimistically.

No, mainly just because it's Star Trek.

hmmmmm..still not sure what you mean. NEMESIS and INSURRECTION got low numbers because they were bad movies. I think if the movie is good it will get good ratings...

I mean, lets be honest. Even TREK fans have a problem with the ODD numbered movies..and why not???

Rob

80-something.

They'll really like it. Kevin Smith's first complete look at a rough cut led him to believe it's the best action/fantasy film since THE DARK KNIGHT:eek: ...but that doesn't necessarily translate into a solid, historic grade for the movie at Rotten Tomatoes. We'll see. I think they'll really dig it.
