I would rather captain a ship that is in the trash heap, as you put it, than captain such an ugly duckiling ship as the Abramsprise.
Klingons laugh at your "superior" design, Mike.
They respect the NuE, it's been said. The Romulans sure do.
Where?!?!? Here at Trek BBS?...There are plenty here that think the "NuE" is an abomination as I do. Or was this another attempt to start a flame war on those that think the way I do?...:vulcan:

Flame war???

Who might be starting THAT?:guffaw:

Continues to baffle me that anyone is capable of liking the TOS Enterprise out of anything but pure nostalgia. I find "that bucket of bolts" a better descriptor for that than the Excelsior. The gloriously sleek and powerful Sovereign-class Enterprise-E gets my vote.

Runners-up for awesome space vehicle designs for science fiction in general and not just Star Trek would have the SDF-1 and Argama somewhere in there. Incidentally, the Sovereign/Ent-E probably IS my favorite science fiction ship out there, not just in this poll.

TOS Enterprise: it's probably the most famous and well-known spaceship shape around. Show photos of the others to someone on the street and they'll struggle to identify them; show 'em a silhouette (or even a lithograph) of the original Enterprise and they'll get it right everytime...

I choose: "The One You Let Out Of Your Poll, You Idiot!! (please specify)" because there was no 1956 C-57D flying saucer star cruiser among the choices.

My 2nd choice would have been the: 1965 Jupiter 2 flying saucer.

But, if I could refit (for human use) the interior of the 1955 Metaluna Saucer of "This Island Earth" movie - it could become my top choice. With it's four decks available, it is larger than either C-57D or Jupiter 2. But still smaller than TOS Enterprise primary hull (saucer). Ideal size for a group of 30 civilian explorers/colonist, planet exploring vehicle (LIS Chariot), and a few Robby robots. I'd redo it's interior as mostly TOS Enterprise... but with structure ribs, open elevator, and freezetubes from Jupiter 2. It would be only a light-speed hyperspace ship, destined to a single (spooky) planet.
