Your name if you were born today.

This fun little time waster will give you your name if you were born today based on the popularity of your name in your birth year, as well as in decades going back to the 1890's. For example, my name was the most popular in my birth year, so I'd be an Emma today and a Mary from the 40's back. Note that this is all based on American baby name data gathered from the Social Security Administration.

Feel free to share your results!

My name was 16th most popular in 1990, so today I would be "Matthew", in the 2000s I'd be "Benjamin", in the 1960s I'd be "Gregory", and in the 1930s and 1940s I'd be "Walter"

My name was 5th most popular when I was born.

Today: William
1890-1910: Charles
1920: George
1930-40: Richard

My name was 57th in popularity in 1947; in 1890,I would be Amelia, Clara in the 1940's, Annabelle today, and Krystal in 1990. The one I'd really hate would have been Vera, in 1930...or Lizzie, in 1900

Huh. My name was the 3rd most popular in 1963, and assuming the trend isn't too different between Canada and the US (and the name stayed popular for the next 20-odd years), that could explain why one year in the musical theatre company I was working in, there were FIVE of us with that name (the stage manager, one of her crew, two of the cast, and me). The director got so frustrated with calling out that name and having 5 people answer, she finally started calling us by our job titles/character names.

So for the duration of that play, my name was "Props!".

Matthew 6th most popular the year I was born.
Ethan if I was born today.
Frank if I was a vampire born in the 1890's!

For fun I looked up Taylor for a female born in 1989, like Taylor Swift :adore:

Taylor 75th most popular in 1989
Alyssa if born today
Mable if born in 1890's

Today I'd be Noah.
2000s: Jacob
90s, 80s, 70s: Michael
60s: David
50s, 40s: James
30s: Robert
20s,10s,00s: John
1890s: John

I got Kali because my name (Lynette) was 254th in 1958. However that was in the USA, Lynette was a far more common name in Australia.

Edit to add - my eldest sister got Kaylee, and my other sister got Esperanza.

Edited again to add - Lynette is listed as the 8th most common girl's name in Australia during the 1950s.

Ooh, I'd be Alexander today, as John was the 8th most popular name back in 1980!

I'd also be Alexander today, because Brian (my actual name) was the 8th most popular name in 1970.

I'm a bit freaked out by the rampant Alexanderism here. :shifty:

Although my 80's name would also be Brian, which I find rather fitting, as I miss the 80's! :sigh:

I would be Isabella and my little brother would be Dylan.

My classes seem to be full of Jacob's and Kayla/Kayleigh/Kaela/Kaylee's.

Alexander is a nice, strong name. A nice strong name by which to demand fealty as ruler of the world.

1960s: Milton
1950s: Virgil
