Your meal of the week!

My mother had a party last night, and she gave me some of the leftover goodies. French bread toasted with garlic and olive oil, and a Feta cheese spread- cheese, garlic, lemon juice, olive oil, and mint whipped together. Made a nice little dinner. I'll have to get the recipe.

^Leftovers are the best for me, being single. I'm still working on that peanut stir-fry I made a few days ago. I think I'll get one more dinner out of it.

The other day, the grocery store had some sashimi grade tuna for sale. So tonight, I made tuna sashimi, traditional spicy tuna (minced with sesame oil and garlic chile paste), and the somewhat more modern spicy tuna (chunky with kewpie mayonnaise and tuong ot sriracha). Served with wasabi ponzu and koshihikari rice. Num num.

Oh my, that looks truly delicious.

Bought some truffle oil today, and thinking of planning a meal around that, not sure what at this precise moment though... Looked like a great little treat to keep in the cupboard and jazz up white meats and salads with.

Last night I fixed pork chops, buttered mashed potatoes and a salad with robust italian dressing. I grilled the chops on our George Foreman grilling machine, seasoning them on occasion with sea salt (large grain). I got 3/4" top loin chops on sale because they had a day or two left on the shelf. I call it the $10 dinner because that's all it cost to serve 3 people.

Anyhoo, here it is before I ate it most viciously: :D

Yesterday I needed to make an extra good meal for myself.
So i made my roulades.

It's thin leafmeat, salt and pepper to season and put a spoonful of creamcheese with garlic and herbs at the smallest end. Roll them up and fry around it in a pan, add creme fraiche with french herbs (garlic, parsley etc) and a little milk to make a sauce that reduces.. the meat cooks in the sauce to become completely done.
I served a couple of those with cooked broccoli (my go-to-veggie) and a little ovenmade frenchfries.

Well I promised a better meal of the week: got biryani rice and chicken, with salmon, red and yellow peppers, lettuce, and apple juice. Puts me to sleep just like that. :bolian:
[Mother's special recipe, then? - someone] Er... yeah.

The buffet at the new Diamond Jo Casino was quite good.

I highly recommend the lobster bisque and herb-roasted chicken at the Jo's Woodfire Grille.

The only menu peculiarity there is the strange fixation upon serving grilled asparagus as the primary side with just about every entrée.

I would expect those items to be outstanding. However, we've been to the buffet twice now and haven't found a menu item that we didn't like.

That said, I managed to make $50 on the blackjack tables last night, only to watch my wife put it back into a slot machine.

I made a really nice ambrosia tonight. Pink and perfect, with mango, pineapple, Mandarin oranges, kiwi fruit, cherries, and bananas. Not to sweet, yet still somehow decadent!
