Your Idea . . .

. . . of paradise.

Never mind religion, or faith, or even belief.

If you could press a magic button (a big red shiny candy-like button) and be transported to "paradise," what would it be?

For me it's a cabin in a forest. On the side of a hill overlooking a lake. It's fall, with cool crisp air, chilly nights, sunny days, a fire in the fireplace and that one special someone to share it with.

I think paradise would drive me crazy in a pretty short amount of time.

A beach covered in white sand, surrounded by palm trees, up against an azure ocean. A small house, with all the amenities necessary (including a large room with an overstuffed chair and shelves piled high with books). It's not an island, as I don't want to be completely alone, but it's also not loud, or filled with noisy people. There are a few people there, however, and we are all very close.

Of course, that's only one of many.

Living in a huge library with thousands of books in every format. With a comfortable bed, a comfortable chair, a nice cafe/restaurant nearby, a really fast internet connection and a nice garden etc and staff to discretely clean and garden.

I think the Matrix got it right, people aren't happy unless they are miserable. You have to have that frame of reference. Of course I am already crazy, so I would fit right in, but for me, the ultimate action figure collection room with all of my figures around me to enjoy. ( Describing the other room would be a bit too graphic. )

^ Pop? Bleah. :barf: Give me beer, hot dogs, and the Bleacher Creatures any day of the week!

And also give me stadium security guards that are not total Nazis. At the new stadium, they won't let us do or say a damn thing! The days of things like this are long gone:

(Wasn't kidding about pop, BTW. I can't stand the stuff. I cannot drink Coke or Pepsi or anything like that anymore. It's like drinking cough syrup. It wasn't until I got hooked on Redd's that I realized how VILE pop is. :barf: )

^ Thought you didn't like hot dogs. :p

If I ever gave that impression, I hereby retract it, because I LOVE hot dogs.

There are some which I didn't like (such as Dodger Dogs, which I considered to be massively overrated), but as such, I'm a big fan of them. :techman: It is kind of hard to find a really GOOD hot dog at a game, though, which may be the source of the above confusion. You can bet that I'll be chowing down on good ones at places like Fenway Park and GABP though.

Note to anyone reading this who doesn't know me that well: Yes, I talk about baseball a lot. I probably talk about it way too much, in fact. But this thread did mention what we would consider paradise, didn't it? Baseball is one of the few things that makes me really happy, and it's the only thing I really know anything about. So you can understand why I would mention it here.

Your idea. . . of paradise.
To be one with the Body, experiencing joy and contentment through the guidance of Landru. Peace and harmony to all. No war, no disease. Landru is gentle. It's paradise, my friend. Paradise.

I may have said this before: going back to early 1972, knowing what I know now, and not making the mistakes I made (though not to radically change the timeline). That really would be heaven. Now Hell would be going back to 1972 and not knowing what I know now, and knowing that I didn't know.

Aside from that, a large and complex house, isolated either high up a hill or on an island, living alone. With extensive and fast internet. And a library.
