Your Health 2011

Well I am pretty sure my GP got it wrong with my ears because the ear drops are doing nothing so far and when I put them in they just block my ear up right away because its not draining liquid properly...Takes way too long unblock and the constant hissing/buzzing noise is starting to drive me mad.

My blood sugar was 272 this morning (BP 167). That is really high, but I'm not so worried because it was hitting 330 as the norm. I believe it's starting to come down because I've begun implementing a few changes:

1] For breakfast, I'm drinking a Glucerna.
2] I'm eating 4 small meals a day instead of 2 larger meals.
3] I've taken on vegetarianism again. I'll be lacto & ovo-vegetarian.
4] I've started meditating again.
5] I've increased my exercise time to 45 minutes a day, 5 days a week.
6] I am cutting my consumption of bread, potatoes, peas, and corn in half.
7] My family, out of concern for my health, has attempted to lighten the level of stress that I take on each day.

I'm hoping that will make a marked difference until I can afford my prescriptions.

Oh, and for anyone who has been paying attention or wondering, my mom has been disabled for years, managing only to take small steps a few feet and then having to rest. When she went in the hospital for kidney surgery (thank you, by the way, for all the prayers and best wishes), she was poorly treated by the nursing staff (as opposed to treated poorly). As a result, her disability had become worse, making it nearly impossible for her to even transfer from her wheelchair to a regular chair. Well, this morning, with only the assistance of a walker, she walked from the living room to the kitchen! We had been working together on her leg muscles, and she had just about given up hope due to the lack of progress, but today she took a major step forward in her recovery, and I am thrilled! So your thoughts and best wishes that her recovery continues to accelerate as it has!

Sort of in denial right now. I am also diabetic, but in poverty right now so I can't eat like I should. Consequently I have basically stopped testing my glucose because I figure even if it was bad what could I do about it. Fortunately I have a free clinic here so I am taking a boatload of meds, but anybody taking as many meds as I am is in pretty poor health to begin with. And unfortunately I am nearing the heaviest I have ever been. Right now i need to end my soul-sucking part-time job and get a full-time job so I can at least reach sustenance level even if I don't have benefits.

I'm doing poorly. Despite efforts to slow down the effects of the diabetes and high blood pressure, lack of money and a constant pressure of stress is deteriorating my health. I took my blood sugar this evening and it was 259. My blood pressure was 167.

J. -- are any of these health centers near/accessible to you?

Apologies if you've already been through this -- just trying to help. Have to go, sorry this is so clipped; more later. I have the same problems and I'm worried for you.

ETA: Argh, sorry -- can't seem to link to actual results. Give it a try if you haven't already, okay, though?

Hey, I didn't know we even had one of those around here. The nearest one is in a bad part of time (high crime rate), but I'm sure I could get in and out of there fairly safely. Thank you, Avalon! :)

Definitely look into what your county has to offer. Generally these kind of services are operated on a county level like the clinic that I go to. You won't get a lot of hands on attention, but you'll get meds. A lot of pharmaceutical companies have low-income programs and the clinics can set you up with them. Good luck J. will get past all this one day.:techman:

I've had no arrhythmia attacks in over a year. I'm almost done with my hep c treatment and I go for a stress test in August as part of my evaluation for transplant. This test scares me due to the fact that it was a stress test that started me down the road of arrhythmia's and numerous ICD shocks. But the hardest part has been due to the reform bill, this is costing us a huge amount of money and I just learned that one of the hospitals that I go to is having its funding cut due to this reform.

But as I said I am more worried about this stress test and it causing another series of arrhythmia attacks. Also my mother is fighting cancer and not doing well overall and it is costing her quite a bit.
