Christopher L. Bennett - Based almost solely off of the strength of Greater Than The Sum, a supremely optimistic book that explored the strength of the new Enterprise crew as a family before doing a 180-degree turn in the last 15 pages and buffering the reader for the Destiny trilogy. Reading GttS was the one of the first times I've felt the theme of a Star Trek novel so wonderfully executed with all of its characters, and I actually felt good reading the novel myself.
