Your favourite line in Trek

My all-time favorite and one that is often cut out of televised version's.

"He's really rather simple once you get into him, almost childlike"

Perhaps a throwaway line from the second pilot, but it was such a perfect way to sum up what Gary Mitchell was becoming, and the kind of places Star Trek would bring us for the next 45 years.

"Let me tell you something about Hew-mons, nephew. They're a wonderful, friendly people – as long as their bellies are full and their holosuites are working. But take away their creature comforts... deprive them of food, sleep, sonic showers... put their lives in jeopardy over an extended period of time... and those same friendly, intelligent, wonderful people will become as nasty and violent as the most bloodthirsty Klingon. You don't believe me? Look at those faces, look at their eyes..." -- Quark -- The Siege of AR - 588

We were watching a chopped up version of The Voyage Home the other evening, and couldn't believe when they edited out the following exchange:

Dr. Gillian Taylor: Do you guys like Italian?
Kirk: Yes.
Spock: No.
Kirk: Yes.
Spock: No.
Kirk: I love Italian. And so do you.
Spock: Yes.

It's been a long time since I looked at this thread, so this may have been mentioned, and I simply forgot, or overlooked:

From The Ultimate Computer: When Kirk quotes from the poem Sea Fever, "All I ask is a tall ship, and a star to steer her by..."
When I was MUCH younger, that was the first time I ever recognized a quality in Star Trek beyond aliens and ray guns.

"NO MORE BLAH BLAH BLAH!" -- Kirk in Miri. That line gets to me all the time!

My second favorite, from The Squire of Gothos, is Trelane as judge, yelling, "YOU WILL HANG BY THE NECK, CAPTAIN, UNTIL YOU ARE DEAD, DEAD, DEAD!"

Red Ranger

"I never kill anyone at the supper table, Mr. La Forge.

- Kurn

Kurn had a bunch of good lines. Earlier, Troi asks him if he's adjusting to his new assignment, and he replies, "I find the constraints difficult to conform to. Just a short while ago, I had to stop myself from killing Commander Riker." Troi's nervous laugh is the kicker! -- RR

Celia Lovsky as T'Pau in Amok Time saying to Spock in a Viennese accent, "Dey say die Wulcan blood runs thin, Spuck."

Celia Lovsky as T'Pau in Amok Time saying to Spock in a Viennese accent, "Dey say die Wulcan blood runs thin, Spuck."

And then there is her memorable line, "Are our ceremonies for outworlders, Spock?" In view of what some people found unsettling about the Vulcan attitude in Star Trek: Enterprise, I found it in keeping with some of the lines and events of Amok Time, including the attitude of the murderously reluctant fiancée/wife.

I have to admit I also love O'Brien's line from "The Wounded".

'"It's not you I hate Cardassian. I hate what I became because of you."
