Your favourite Doctor/companion combination.

Not sure if this has been asked before, but I'm interested in who everyone's favourite Doctor/companion combination is. In many ways it determines the dynamic of the show moreso than just who the Doctor is.

Anyway, I'd say my favourite is the Seventh Doctor and Ace. A great pairing. Fourth Doctor and Sarah Jane were also very good. I quite like the Sixth Doctor and Peri too, but I'm probably the only one there.

I liked Ace and 7 too; they had a great teacher/student dynamic going on; plus I liked how she called him Professor which ticked him off.

I thought the 10th and Martha were a good pairing. But my favorite was the 4th and Sarah Jane.

So many great combos over the years!

The Second Doctor with Jamie and Zoe.

Four with Sarah Jane, Four with Leela, Four with Romana II

Five With Tegan and Nyssa (but especially Tegan)

Seven and Ace (once they toned down the wickedness of her character a bit.

Nine and Rose (so much better than 10 and Rose)

10 and Donna (Are we allowed 10 with Wilf as well?)

Well, since I only know the series from 2005 on, my knowledge is limited here, but I add my two cents anyway ;).
For me it's a tie between the 10th Doctor and Rose and the 10th Doctor and Donna. I know some people had a problem with Rose. Well, I didn't. I liked her as a companion as much as I liked Donna.

3/Jo
3/Liz
4/Sarah Jane (and Harry)
4/Romana II
9/Rose
10/Donna
5/Tegan

3/Jo and 3/Liz are relatively new pairings to me since I rediscovered them again over the last couple of years. I like Liz because she's educated and confident and is a good foil for 3. I like Jo and 3 because I can see a lot of affection for Jo in Pertwee's Doctor, and Jo reminds me of all the teenage girls I looked up to when I was a kid.

4/Sarah Jane were my Doctor and companion, and I still think of them as the "real" ones.

4/RomanaII had great chemistry that I picked up on even as a kid.

9/Rose because they were hot, and frankly, it was a massive surprise when Who returned to discover that dimension to Who!

10/Donna. I was one of the naysayers when Catherine Tate was announced as a companion. I loathed her when I saw Runaway Bride (and I still haven't seen most of it). I love Donna. A very great deal. I think she's awesome, and she works so well with Tennant's Who.

5/Tegan. There's something indefinable for me about 5, so I won't bother trying to explain what it is about him I like, but for me he worked well with Tegan, who seemed to drive him up the wall, and was sassy and independent and had a great career (and fab uniform!) to my 18 year old self.

The Second Doctor and Jamie. Two mischievious schoolboys running round the galaxy getting up to all sorts of hijinks, obviously the best friends you could ever imagine, and having the time of their lives. Plus, on the evidence of Victoria and Zoe, they couldn't half pull. They'd be by far the most fun to hang out with :D

Anyway, I'd say my favourite is the Seventh Doctor and Ace.

Agreed. Ace called him the Professor and the Doctor knew how to deal with the demons inside her.

My favorite scene of the pair was when the Doctor asked Ace: "Remember the Nitro 9 I told you not to bring?"

"Yes, Professor."

"Give me one.":rommie:

I loved that interaction.

I'm adding another vote for Seven and Ace. They just seemed like the perfect fit and far more matched. She may have been the student and a bit of a trouble magnet, but she was also independent and clever enough with the right nudging.

As I've only really seen the new (version of) Doctor Who, I'm going to have to say Ten and Donna. I liked Nine/Ten with Rose, Jack and Nine were a hoot as well, but I could not stand Ten and Martha with all her unrequited bullshite.

The Ninth Doctor and Rose, no question.

The Tenth Doctor and Rose and the Tenth Doctor and Donna come in second. The Tenth Doctor and Martha comes in third.

I also quite liked Ten/Astrid from "Voyage of the Damned" and Ten/Wilf from "The End of Time." It's a pity Wilf couldn't have been the second full-time companion in Series Four.

Tenth Doctor/Donna

Ninth Doctor/Rose/Captain Jack/Mickey

Fourth Doctor/Sarah-Jane/Harry

Seventh Doctor/Ace

Sixth Doctor/Peri
