Your favourite battle scenes?

ReadyAndWilling

Fleet Captain
hey all, one of the things i love about sci-fi are the battles between starships. i don't mean just the CGI, but i also love the scenes from within the ship on the ship between the officers, like "transferring power from secondary systems to shields." the vulcans always seemed great because of their intense calmness in handling their roles in battles with other ships. what are some quality scenes with the vulcans? i think they're great because everything around them is so hectic and yet they're able to remain calm. i'm guessing 'enterprise' had the best ones? what are some eps to check out?

what were some of the great ones for me to check out. i'm watching nemesis now and it's pretty awesome.

thanks

Check out the third season of Enterprise. The whupping the Enterprise recieves in "Azati Prime" is especially fantastic.

the last section of Wrath of Khan is among the most exciting in Trek. Star Trek VI and First Contact have great battles as well.

As for episodes, Most of the memorable battles are in DS9 during the Dominion War. For TOS I really like Balance of Terror and The Doomsday Machine. Spock's verbal sparring with Decker is pretty memorable.

"The Battle of The Mutura Nebeua" is a decent one.
We've also had "The Battle of Wolf 359"
"Battle of Sector 001"
"Second Battle of DSN" one of my favourite moments is when the Klingons come in out of sign, to reinforce the Federation Task Force.

I would mention the "Battle of Cardassia" but a lot of it is recycled footage. But got to love the Cardassians switching sides. They must have found out Lakarian City had been reduced to rubble.

The battle inside the Mutara Nebula from Star Trek II has always been my favorite but the battles in Balance of Terror are a close second. There always seemed to be more strategy in these fights unlike the point and shoot we mostly saw in the later series.

Yup, the same ones for me. Besides Trek I love submarine war movies and perhaps that's why those two examples are closest to my heart. There's a feel of a strategic game between two captains.

I liked the Battle of Sector 001 in First Contact, but the actual fighting on screen was much too short. It would have been epic to see an extended battle. From the time the Enterprise left the Neutral Zone at maximum warp, it took several hours to reach Earth. (Presumably, the cube wasn't actually at Earth when the fighting started, but rather at some distant border of Sector 001, and en route to Earth during this time as well, as it was stated the the Borg cube broke the defense perimeter).

^The Battle in "Balance of Terror" is more akin to the old submarine movies. With maybe the Enterprise being a destroyer whilst the Bird of Prey a submarine.

hey man, thanks. i'm watching the second battle of DS9 and it's great.

are there any vulcan battle scenes? i can't quite remember any from ENT.

Sacrifice of Angels-- They finally showed what an actual space war battle looked like.

One of my favorites-- especially the shot with the two Galaxys taking out a Cardassian ship.

And the shot where the Klingons arrived in the nick of time calvary style.

First runner up would be Yesterday's Enterprise-- The battle scenes were slow, but the scenes inside the ship, it perfectly caught the tense, war atmosphere.

"Impulse" features a ship load of Zombie Vulcans, whom Archer's team are stuck on board, trying to rescue. No ship combat, but lots of fighting.

The two-part "In a Mirror, Darkly" features a short, one-sided battle between the advanced USS Defiant and a fleet of Vulcan, Andorian and Tellarite ships.

There's also a tiny bit of Vulcan ship combat in ENT's season 4 Vulcan three-parter. One's called "The Forge"

The Ultimate Computer.

Seeing those four Connie's coming for the Enterprise was enough to fire my imagination for years. :techman:

TWOK Battle in the Mutara Nebula. Everything went right in that scene.

Especially when Spock suggests that Khan only had 2-Dimensional thinking and suggests the ship lower its "altitude". I never thought of that before. Brilliant!

But space is 3D! It makes no sense whatsoever that a genetically engineered genius would think space were a flat plane. That really took me out of the movie.

While no actual fight took place in By Inferno's Light I still get goose bumps seeing the Romulans decloak and the sheer size of the Alpha Quardant force!
