The amazing thing is? Quake engine. This game was done on a highly modified version of the Quake engine, though playing the game, you'd be hard-pressed to know that's what it's running on.

It's a cult classic. Those who have played it rave about it It was overshadowed by the release of Daikatana, and because of it, people never gave it much of a chance due to the hoopla surrounding Daikatana and the bad taste that put in people's mouths made them avoid games by Ion Storm, until Deus Ex came out, which was by a different division of the studio. It was a Tom Hall game, and much of the humour in the game is attributed to him. If you're interested, look up Daikatana the movie on Youtube. People felt that the story was so good that they made a michinima out of it. It's mostly a parody on console JRPGs, and one of the characters you play is a planet. Yes, a planet It definitely holds its own, as it's a great sci-fi RPG.
