I liked Iron Man 2 when I saw it because it really introduced us to the expanded MCU for the first time. I didn't mind that it meandered a bit, and I still don't. I think the only movie that didn't really appeal to me was Thor 2.

Yeah, like I said I still really enjoy Iron Man 2 and Thor 2, even if I acknowledge that they're weaker. Really, for me all the Marvel movies are great. honestly, Iron Man 3 is probably weaker than IM2 in my opinion, but IM2 seems to have a slightly worse reputation. I don't think that the MCU has a single bad movie, I like them all.

As much as I like Winter Soldier, I still have to go with the first Iron Man as my favorite. It felt really fresh, it made the character seem cooler and more badass than he ever had before, and I just got a huge kick out of seeing those armors in action for the first time.

Although that being said... I think Daredevil and Jessica Jones are far superior to all of them, and are my favorite things to ever come out of Marvel. Probably because they actually make their characters feel believable and real, instead of just two-dimensional action figures making snarky jokes all the time.

Captain America has been the strongest character and Wonter Soldier was the best movie so far. It felt like its own movie with a big twist to shake up the entire MCU.

Have people always been this down on Age of Ultron, or is this an in-retrospect thing? I thought AOU was chock full of great stuff...

Probably Guardians of the Galaxy but I have a feeling Civil War is going to take the top spot when it comes out.

Age of Ultron is full of great stuff, but it has a lot of been there, seen that before. In retrospect (after the hype glow has faded) AoU isn't really special like the first Avengers. It's like a filler between more important movies coming in the future.

Age of Ultron was very enjoyable, but suffered from middle movie syndrome and having a few too many balls in the air at once.

I love IM2, IM3, Thor TDW and Ant-Man about equally, with Incredible Hulk and Avengers close behind... so, being a San Franciscan, I'll shoot a vote Ant-Man's way. :bolian:

Winter Soldier by a long stretch - marred only by the "and they all fall down" Helicarrier moment. With the current test-screenings of Civil War rating it higher than WS (which is their highest rated test-screened film so far) gives me high hopes for at least one character-trilogy of MCU films that are great throughout.

12. The Incredible Hulk - 2/10
11. Iron Man 2 - 4/10
10. Thor- 5/10
9. Thor: The Dark World - 6/10
8. Iron Man - 6.5/10
7. Ant Man - 7/10
6. Captain America: The First Avenger - 7.5/10
5. Avengers: Age of Ultron - 8/10
4. Iron Man 3 - 8/10
3. Guardians of the Galaxy - 8/10
2. The Avengers - 8/10
1. Captain America: The Winter Soldier - 9/10

Hugo - always liked IM:3 more than the other, but I know that is not the "norm"

i don't think it's a matter of NOT liking AoU. It was a really fun movie--but it went through many of the same paces as the first.

I've loved all of the MCU movies, but Guardians is my absolute favorite, with The Winter Soldier at a very close second.
(Disclamer: I only saw Ant-Man and AoU once in theaters, and while I did love them, I don't remember them clearly enough to judge them with others)
1. Guardians of the Galaxy
2. CA: The Winter Soldier
3. The Avengers
4. Iron Man 3
5. CA: The First Avenger
6. Thor: The Dark World
7. Iron Man
8. Thor
9. Iron Man 2 (I actually seem to like it a lot more than most other people, but it still ranks at the bottom)

I'm tempted to vote for Thor because it was my favorite Phase 1 solo film and it doesn't get a lot of love...and TWS was great...but I'm going to have to vote for Avengers because...
While The Winter Soldier is probably the best MCU movie, my favorite would have to be The Avengers. I loved everything about that movie. It successfully tied all the Phase One movies together and proved that the MCU actually worked in a way that many doubted could be achieved.
...this.

I seem to recall that a while back, there was some debate about that. So I figured I'd make it clear.
Possibly you're thinking of Ang Lee's Hulk...some have been known to insist that it's part of the MCU, though it clearly takes place in a different continuity than TIH.

I voted for Winter Soldier, but I think Age of Ultron is just as good. Yes, I know how some of you feel about AoU. Whatever, man.

For me, Iron Man 1, The Incredible Hulk, and Captain America: The First Avenger have the greatest re-watch value.

The majority of people seem to have thought it was inferior to the first one. It still did great at the box office though.

I would agree the first movie is better on the whole, but I still think it's a brilliant piece of Joss Whedon work to balance all those characters and storylines and future movies and actually make a coherent movie out of it. Visually, it's far superior to the first film. The action scenes are more involved, more clever, the lighting and cinematography is more gritty and less garish colors (not that I don't like how the first one looks), there's more on location real world filming...

Captain America: Winter Soldier by far. It's filmed like an action movie that just happens to have superheroes in it and I love it. Guardians of the Galaxy is a close second, followed by Avengers.

If Avengers: Inifinity War aren't the best Marvel movies of all time, I will be shocked.

1/2. Avengers 1 and 2 - I agree that Winter Soldier is the best made MCU movie, but nothing can touch the awesome team action of the Avengers, despite whatever flaws they have. I also refuse to choose between them because I love them both equally - I honestly feel like their flaws are almost symmetrical, AoU may have dropped the ball on some of what we did get in Avengers, but in return for that it picked up and improved on some of the things Avengers didn't do as well (like character arcs). But if you absolutely force me to choose, I'll take AoU purely for the awesomeness of Vision and Scarlet Wtich.
3. Winter Soldier
4. Guardians of the Galaxy
- First TV interlude
Jessice Jones
Daredevil -
5. Captain America: The First Avenger
- Second TV interlude
Agents of Shield
Agent Carter -
6. Iron Man
7. Ant-Man - This is the main watershed point for me in terms of quality. I don't think any of them are really bad, but Ant-man and below are all ok-ish at best.
8. Thor
9. The Incredible Hulk
10. Iron Man 2
11. Thor The Dark World
12. Iron Man 3
