TNG and VOY, and ENT... even though when I first heard ENT years ago I HATED it, it's now grown on me to such an extent that I love it. It strikes an emotive, inspirational energy into me and makes me feel as though the song is being sung by a singular, collective representation of humanity as it reaches upward and takes its first adult steps...

I actually prefer the Goldsmith TMP theme, but I hate the bland orchestration of it used for TNG, which is why I didn't vote for that.

Agreed. I really like the theme, but the TNG version, in addition to being truncated, is too brassy.

"Faith of the Heart" is a pretty good song. The problem is it was a horrible cover. It sounded like it was performed by the kind of guys most likely found dressed in red velvet suits hidden away in the corner of Artie Silva's Bowl and Billiards.

It always reminded me of Top Gun for some reason. I wonder how it would of sounded done more orchestrally with George Michael doing the vocal... Alas...

TNG, though the show itself usually puts me to sleep. TOS would be second. I love DS9 the show, but its theme is probably my least favorite of the bunch, though it did get better when they jazzed it up in season 4.

That original TNG theme was by Dennis McCarthy anbd was included on the CD of the pilot score.

Not bad. It reminds me a bit of James Horner's theme from The Rocketeer towards the beginning.

But it does seem the poll choices reflect the declining popularity of TV Trek over time.

I more or less have positive feelings for all the theme tunes (yeah, even “Faith of the Heart”, which fits the show perfectly), but I'd say I love Dennis McCarthy's Deep Space Nine theme the most. It's so grandiose and majestic. I love that it is “slow”. Slow and epic.

I'm honestly surprised by how little I like it, as I normally LOVE Goldsmith's work (His Planet of the Apes and TMP scores are two of my favorites). But I've always found his VOY theme to be kind of blah.

Back in my vehemently anti-VOY days in the 90s, I actually wrote a line of two of lyrics that I'd sing along with the theme song whenever I heard it:

We... will... SUCK more
than any Star Trek HAS before.
Oh yes, we will.
Oh yes, we will.
We will.
