I'm planning a vacation for mid-May this year but can't decide where to go.
For context, I usually go on cruises, but I want to try something different and stationary this year.
Last year, my sister and I traveled to Portugal and Spain for 12 days. While I had a blast, the idea of hopping from one international city to another, staying in different hotels, and just moving constantly isn't my idea of a relaxing vacation. I want something a bit more grounded - stay in one place and take day tours whenever I want.
Beaches aren't really my thing, and although an all-inclusive resort might seem appealing to others, I would hate to be in an overcrowded place with loud obnoxious tourists. Besides, I'm more interested in history and culture.
I've been considering at least three different destinations: Montreal, Seville, and Prague, and each has some charming things to offer. As a solo traveler, I find it challenging to find a travel plan that's reasonable and won't break the bank. In any case, I need to get away.

Montréal is awesome. I go there every few years. I highly recommend it.
Just booked a holiday to Egypt, in may. I want to see the pyramids for myself. (And other stuff too, of course.).

I've been going to Reno more lately mainly because my parents live there, but recently I decided to skip on the Star Trek Convention in Vegas and go back to my childhood family camp in July. I haven't seen those people in almost 6 years and last year I had to go for a family emergency and realized how much I missed it.
I finally decided on a destination: Dublin, Ireland! I'll be visiting for just a week. Any suggestions or ideas on what to do and sights to see?
I messed up on my booking via Travelocity. I wanted to extend my stay, but I had already booked my trip, and they said I could only cancel the flight, not the hotel reservation. I guess I should've been more organized in my planning.

Day 4 of my weeklong vacation in Ireland, and I'm having a great time! I'm staying at a hotel in the City Centre neighborhood of Dublin. There is so much to do and see around here. I've done a tour of the Temple Bar district and will be doing another tour of Trinity College, Book of Kells, and St. Patrick's Cathedral.
In addition, I've visited the breath-taking Cliffs of Moher and will be touring Glendalough tomorrow.

I did all my cruising on Uncle Sam's dime. All starting and ending in Norfolk, Virginia.
Six cruises to the Caribbean, two to the Mediterranean, one to the Arctic Ocean, and circumnavigated Africa starting in Naples, Italy and ending up in the Gulf of Oman (a.k.a.GONZO Station).
The map for the cruise from Norfolk to the Med to GONZO Station is in green, the return trip to Norfolk from GONZO Station is in red. No port calls after we left Naples in January 1980, until we returned to Norfolk in late May.
No more cruising for me, that is all out of my system.
Mom and I would go to Helsinki this summer, but we agreed to cancel it due the oil crisis, there is a growing decline of kerosine so if we want to go we'll either risk cancellation of our flight or getting stranded in Helsinki. So it will be a staycation this year
I would have loved to go to England and Scotland this year, but since I haven't fully recovered from my arm injury and two surgeries, it's not going to happen this year. Among the destinations I'd love to see: London, Stonehenge, Stratford Upon Avon, Bath; Edinburgh and vicinity.
