Young Justice-Tonight!

It was a discount department store that went out of business in 1999.

And, yes, apparently, I am the only one who thinks of it when they hear "Kaldur."

I liked the new episode (especially that Blue Beetle thought about talking to the golem, instead of just continue to fight it) and was pleasantly surprised how much they managed to fit into it. The only thing I found strange was that the Hall of Justice doesn't seem to have any kind of security system. If someone breaks in (or in this case out), shouldn't all available leaguers be notified?

This is from the comics.

Wally left the titans to study nuclear physics at College.

Wasn't Wally's powers killing him? I think he had to stop running or else he would die. Being exposed to anti-matter during Crisis helped cure Wally, but he was left only able to run at roughly the speed of sound.

Why were they killing him?

Did this Wally receive his powers the same way as Barry (lightning striking chemicals)?

Also, speed of sound? That is pathetically slow in the DC universe.

The reasoning I've seen is that since Wally received his powers as a kid, when he underwent puberty, his body couldn't handle the powers, and using them was slowly killing him. You can read more about Wally here.

And as far as comparing his speed to the others in the DCU, this was right after the Crisis, which depowered most of the heroes.

I wonder if this was the "dead cats" reference

I'm thinking it's another one of "the Rival;" though granted that's only because the animation for his weapon was similar to Jaime's and because I figure "the Rival" will be playing a role in the story.

I think they were called "the competitor," but otherwise that's my thinking too.

Oh, right. I must've just been thinking "Reach" and went with the "r" word.

Or one of the Reach's warrior caste enforcers.

Yeah, the Black Beetle sounds like there's at least a person under there, right? The shadowy figure in this episode seemed completely cold and referred to people as "meat."

Hehe, Apache Chief.

Wonder if the delivery of runaways is going to be for experiments like the Dominators did during Invasion. "%13!! %13 demonstrated the metagene!!"

^I'm thinking they're one and the same. Really enjoyed this episode. I liked finally getting to see more of Batgirl and Wonder Girl.

About the only thing I enjoyed was the introduction of Apache Chief and the idea of an all girls team as the centerpiece of the episode--the rest was kinda "meh"--the steroetypical one note mean boyfriend, the pointless subplot with Jamie that spun its wheels, nothing much happened on Bialya.

Overall this season is off to a disappointing and slow start.

I don't think Jaime's subplot was pointless. It was a rather chilling depiction of just how violent the Scarab is and how difficult it is for Jaime to keep it under control.

I'm more concerned with the red aura around his head.

Is that his speedy sense?

A 6th sense that helps him locate speed?

Another definite winner. It was nice to have a closeup look at Jaime's home life, there's a reason I think he's become such a well-established character for being so new to DC.

The stuff in Bialya was fun, Wonder Girl continues to be great and Nightwing's "There's... no right way to answer that" when Batgirl asks him about justifying an all-girls team was funny. I wonder what the Bilayans were digging up down below? The Boom Tubes make me think the kidnapees' destination is Apokalips, but the fact that Tye was one of them also suggests the Competitor (if it's the Reach) because of the connection to Beetle.

...nothing much happened on Bialya.

Nothing much? :p

I don't think Jaime's subplot was pointless. It was a rather chilling depiction of just how violent the Scarab is and how difficult it is for Jaime to keep it under control.

:techman: That's one psychopathic little suit of armor he's got. Should I hold out hope for "Potential theological implications"?
