But I'm sure not just Jeeps but any car with an abundance of onboard stuff including wifi. But it seems in this article the author was in a Jeep that got killed remotely. Thankyou built in entertainment system. Don't you love modern cars?

As we build cars with more and more onboard systems this is going to be a problem. And I shudder to think what happens with driverless cars if there are no safeguards like say a firewall or two to prevent such an occurrance, not that it will stop the determined hacker.

Sometimes I think we have too much technology in places where it should not be..

WTOP did a similar write-up here, talking about a potential "patch" that's supposed to fix the problem. If anyone looking for a new car is smart, they will stay away from Chryslers and Jeeps for the next 2-5 years. Every hacker with an itch will be seeing their claim as a challenge and hit those vehicles from all directions to try to get in.

^ I guess the smart thing for a Chrysler & Jeep owner to do (for now) would be to disable the cellular and wifi options on the vehicles. Cannot hack what you cannot connect to....

The cars used the Uconnect system.

Also a lot of cars use the CAN bus which is chock full of holes and very exploitable.

I opted to NOT have wireless connection in my car. Mainly, because I believe all this connectivity to the internet is helping fuel distracted driving.
