I like acronyms - I like when people amend them to suit themselves or make up new ones, because I like figuring them out - like IMAO or IMNSHO
I don't mind this sort of thing.
What I do kinda hate are the nazis who will come along and correct you, especially on the internet. As long as people get what is being said, we don't need the english nazis to come along and correct everything.

Plus, they don't know if the person they are correcting had english as a first language so it's rude when someone comes along and has to point out a bunch of mistakes in a post. Get over yourself.

I think if people were taught typing skills, then they would automatically spell words fully without even realising it.
When sending SMS messages, I have predictive text on my phone, so I can spell words with their full compliment of letters.
Perhaps if QWERTY keyboards also used predictive text, people wouldn't feel shy about pressing those extra two "y" and "o" buttons.
