You are given the choice of ONLY 1 Star Trek DVD/Blu-ray set to watch until you are rescued. Also, on the desert island you have a superior HD television & sound system. Please note that you will NOT have cable tv...the only thing you can watch is whatever Trek set you choose here, so make a good choice. Keep in mind that it is possible you may never be rescued. What will it be?

I'm concerned about those choices....because if I may never be rescued...and we only have Trek DVD's to entertain us...?

No companionship?
:(

SHATNER: You, you must be almost 30. Have you ever kissed a girl?

LOVITZ: No. (sniffles) I’ve spent most of my life stranded on a desert island with nothing but Star Trek videos for companionship. I idolized you and my dreams of somebody being rescued and meeting you gave me the strength to survive all those years. I was just rescued last night and the first thing I did is come straight here.

SHATNER: See, that’s my point. Priorities. The Mustang Ranch’s not ten miles from here. Why didn’t you stop there first?

LOVITZ: Because I heard Melanie was going to be tagging along with you to the convention. We hooked up in her room this morning.

SHATNER: But didn’t you just say...

LOVITZ: I said I’ve never kissed a girl. That doesn’t mean I didn’t pay your daughter 30 bucks to blow me this morning. In retrospect, I wish I’d saved it for the program from the ’75 convention, but I didn’t know that was going to be available.

SHATNER: You know, captrek, some of your jokes lately have been really tasteless.

CAPTREK: Blow me, Shatner.

SHATNER: I really don’t like it when people talk to me that way.

CAPTREK: I wasn’t talking to you, Bill.

MELANIE: Mmmph.

No human companionship. If you are hetero you may wish to pick the season with the hottest ladies because they will be your fantasy companions. ;)

Point of order - the Blu-Ray has BOTH trhe original and Remastered visual effects; so you DON'T have to choose between TOS abd TOS [Remastered]. ;)

I hadn't thought of that...but we'll just assume for this poll that is not the case. ;)

Too late -- I already assumed everybody knew that and voted Season 1 Remastered.

The blu-ray sets are specially made just for the island, i figured you all knew this. ;)

Also, there are NO special features included either.

Bah! I voted for S2 Remastered because you get both original and new effects PLUS a bonus DS9 episode! Oh well, I'll stick to my vote anyway with just S2 episodes.

C'mon people, I listed the S1-S3 original & remastered as 2 seperate poll choices each for a reason. You can nitpick about content if you want, but what is intended here is either original ONLY or remastered ONLY...no combination is an option. i suppose I should have explained this in the first post, but assumed everyone knew what was intended.

Great thread! Hard choice for me. It was between the first season of TOS (remastered, but only because i could play with toggling back and forth. Hey, who knows how long i'm going to be on this island? I'll take all the entertainment i can get!).... and the TOS movies. I ended up picking the movies because by that point the characters were so fully fleshed out and the relationships so wonderful that i could never get bored.

Am I alone on this island? This will affect my answer because:

S1 and S2 are my favorites.

S1 is probably the more thought provoking whereas S2 is more action/drama oriented (though there is plenty of overlap and exceptions). If I am alone, I will chose S2. If I have someone to discuss the ideas S1 evokes, I'll chose S1. There is nothing more frustrating than being stimulated mentally but with nobody to discuss your thought or ideas with.

I'm pretty sure it was already indicated that you'd be alone, but it wasn't specified whether you'd have a computer to discuss the episodes on message boards. :p

TOS S1, original. I don't mind the new effects, but I'm old enough to not find them necessary. As years go by, the technology keeps getting higher def but my eyes keep getting lower def.

Considering the TOS Remastered discs contain the original effects too, this is somewhat redundant.
