I LOVE Cup racing on road courses. I wish there were more than two (and there certainly needs to be one in the Chase). In fact, it turned out to be the best race of the day (IRL was a bore, F1 wasn't much better)
I'm a big fan of NASCAR to, and I agree with you there needs to be a road course race in the chase. I'm not a big fan of IRL or F1 although I'll watch these racing series just to see what's happening in each. James
Yes it was good to see, I listened to it on Sirius I don't get TSN2 were it was appaerntly shown. Just glad it wasn't a Hendrick car that won. Also cudo's to Marcus Ambroes in the #47 and Patrick Carpentier#55 in the MWR cars.
I take it you don't like Hendrick Racing!? You're not alone, my dad can't stand them either, now me, I've always liked Dale Sr. and Darrell Waltrip along with Richard Petty, so I've gotta support Dale Jr. James
I'm not a fan of Hendrick by any means. He's done some cool things over the years though, and I like Jeff Gordon and Jr. Waltrip was always interesting to watch. My favorites: David Pearson Alan Kulwicki (love that the drivers still honor him every few races with a Polich Victory Lap) Davey Allison Mark Martin
Captain Ice, you've got a great list of drivers there, do you think Jr. wull win a race before the chase starts? James
Not driving as a junior team member at Hendrick. Let's face it, while they have a great deal of resources there, they've also got 4 teams, two of which have won championships multiple times and probably get first choice of all equipment and personnel.
Alan Kulwicki was THE BEST. When TNN used to show happy hour (which used to really BE happy hour 5-6 pm the Sat before a race), Alan would run some laps and drive into the garage, where his boys would have his tools waiting for him as he would dive into the engine room or under the car to do his own adjustments. Then, the helmet would go back on and off he'd go. And he won a championship in that manner. Amazing. I always thought the best test of a driver's mettle was in the old CART days, where the schedule was evenly divided among road courses, street circuits, short ovals and superspeedways. You had to be good at all of them to win a championship. And you had to use the SAME CAR too! (different wing packages, though). That was a great series.
