can you imagine how awesome going to see that movie wouldve been in 1994? directed by Meyer or Nimoy?! (plus Nimoy in it as 24th century Spock)

TWOK wouldve ceased being the best ST movie 22 years ago!

So would "Yesterday's Enterprise" the episode not have happened, because I wouldn't want to lose Rachel Garrett.

Great work on putting it together.

maybe the story could've been done again (with various differences) for the film? (like TMP-Changeling/Immunity/Doomsday, TFF-Way to Eden etc)

I love the trailer because it defines what GENERATIONS could have been. Brilliant.

Agree. This is the film that Generations should have been. A remake of "Yesterday's Enterprise" would have been just fine multiple temporal rifts. Other franchises remake same stories with the stated revisions. The James Bond films: Never Say Never Again 1983 Sean Connery film was a remake Thunderball 1965 Sean Connery film, same story just revised.

And it's not as big a deal, either, because "Yesterday's Enterprise" was wiped from history (mostly...), and it's not like other temporal rifts didn't exist. We see one in the actual movie (the Nexus), that could presumably swallow ships and do crazy stuff with them if the writers wanted.

I wonder if J.J. Abrams Star Trek 4 will be a "Yesterday's Enterprise" remake with (Chris Hemsworth) George Kirk, Kirk's Father..."Yesterday's Kelvin".;)

ST2009 temporal travel of both Nero and Spock(Leonard Nimoy) could have been instead a
"Yesterday's Enterprise" remake with both Shatner and Nimoy...

Meyer's direction on STVI was ordinary and some of his ideas out of tune with STNG so no, he'd have been a terrible choice for the director. David Carson directed both Yesterday's Enterprise and Generations so he'd have been a fine director for a movie version.

had forgotten carson did YE. but would still go with Nimoy or Meyer directing for their movie timetravel experience on IV and Time After Time . maybe Nimoy as he actually was approached by Berman to direct/star, itd be similar to II/III in Nimoy taking over directorial duties, and unlike Meyer hed had some TNG experience, plus Meyer probably wouldn't have wanted to direct another straight after VI anyway . and written by both (story Nimoy/Berman/Braga/Moore. screenplay Meyer/Braga/Moore)

Done as a full story, set during the series as opposed to the movies - I believe Berman said if they knew :they were doing TNG movies then they would have reserved Yesterday's Enteprise

Maybe. I can't help but wonder what those TOS films would have been like if Roddenberry hadn't alienated Harlan Ellison repeatedly over the years. Did you know he was asked to write 3 of those movies? Wrath was the first of them. He shot them down before they could even ask about ST V. Just imagine if that movie hadn't sucked.

I found Yesterday's Enterprise relatively entertaining, but the entire episode helped define the franchise's later propensity for the reset button

No way this gets made as a major motion picture.

I think it was Ron Moore who said that by doing Yesterday's Enterprise, they blew their best chance at a possible Generations story. But from a writer's point of view, they probably wouldn't have done it as the 24th century was not the 'real' TNG characters from the show. It was, after all, supposed to be a TNG movie. That's like having one of the TOS movies set entirely in the Mirror Univserse: The fanboy in me would have loved that, but it's just not a realistic option for a Trek movie.

That being said, it's an awesome edit. :)

KIRK : While you're at it, repairing our vessel, could you perhaps install some of those fancy 24th century weapons and defensive systems ? We would stand a much better chance of survival.

Picard: Captain, To do so would constitute an unacceptable technological contamination of the past, perhaps even a breach of the prime directive.

Kirk: I see.

Picard: Besides, we wouldn't be able to install them before Tuesday, anyway.

Kirk: Damnit!
