Real world and budgetry reasons aside do you suppose the Enterprise D in Yesterdays Enterprise could've or should've been a different class of starship?
I mean when you look at, when the war with the Klingons started, the Galaxy class was still still at least 10 years away from being thought of, at least in the prime timeline anyway, and given the circumstances that type of design would never be given much thought anyway. I say that becuase even in the original timeline the Galaxy is pretty much a Starfleet cruise liner, it was designed to carry over 1000 Starfleet and civilian personnel and wasn't really meant for great battles. I know that the Enterprise, and a few Galaxy's, has seen a few battles, like the Borg and the Dominion war for example, but tbh I don't see a need for a ship that size, and in that design, to be used in constant warfare.
Don't get me wrong, I love the Galaxy class but not for this alternate timeline. It would've been better, I think, had they used a similar, slightly more, beefier version and still get away with calling it a Galaxy class Battleship.
What do you think, are you happy with the regular Enterprise D design being used in the alternate timeline or could they have used a diffrerent design?
