Always lovely to see some HunterG Enterprise shots. Whilst I like the SNW TOS Enterprise revamp very much, this one's at the top of the tree for me. :bolian:

I think I'd like the SNW Enterprise much better if they hadn't gone for that very reflective finish on it. Makes me think of aluminum foil and fragility.

Regardless, Hunter's version is by far the best I've seen anywhere.

There have been many great alternative Connie designs made over the years or decades even... also here on this board by the various people in this forum.
Hunter's version has the right balance. :mallory: :techman:

Liked Lewis Nevin's take on the ship as well, also his other work is interesting. :mallory:

While I do think Hunter's version is the best of the TOS revamps, I actually really like the reflective, aluminium-like hull as it exudes a kind of 50's jet aircraft look that feels at home with an Enterprise designed to exist in an earlier timeframe than the 60's designed TOS Enterprise; a fun comparison which translates to the 2250's and 2260's too.

The fan-made Metaluna I could see silvered up—with that very spartan bridge that was proposed pre-Cage.

That could just as easily go with the Prodigy era as well.

I appreciate the comments guys!

I hope Hunter-G doesn't mind my sharing the fact that he has some cool new images of this beauty up on his ArtStation profile. Check it out, because he places his version next to the TOS version for comparison.

Make sure you check out the 2024 version of the TOS Enterprise by Lewis Nevin that Hunter-G references:

Thank you, there are too many sites to post on these days and I always forget some

I do like a metallic looking hull, but SNW hull paneling looks way to uneven in my opinion, making it look dirty and amateurly built:

I've seen hull paneling on modern craft that's more smooth and even.

Though, the original concept John Eaves did look way better (and I remember he was going for the aircraft material):

The best metallic paneling I've seen is on the NX refit model by SCE2Aux:

(You've probably seen his thread here on TrekBBS too)

If they overhauled the textures and went back to the original Eaves design it would do wonders in my opinion. That, and un-squish the ship a bit, let the Enterprise be tall!
I actually started on a Sombra class ship (headcannoning her as a smaller Constitution precursor) based on the Eaves SNW design:
