Yay Australia: Quantum computing breakthrough

So a computer has ‘simulated nature’ at an atomic level? Now they just need a *really* high resolution 3D printer or a holodeck to output these renderings. :D

If you can do holos of ancient bands performing for crowds why can't we do that? Good question

Yeah, that's not the first demonstration of delayed choice. My interpretation of it and demonstrations of the Bell inequality are that we are only conscious of whatever branch of the multiverse we find ourselves at any moment. There is consequently no free will and the result of such experiments is predetermined and consistent in each branch. An alternative explanation of retrocausality is advanced action as proposed by Huw Price in Time's Arrow and Archimedes Point: New Directions for the Physics of Time (1996).

Haha I always imagined that what you see in front of you is there but then when you turn your back and walk away it's not there

I wonder if the communication-type mentioned here could hear some bleed-over from another reality:

"The researchers noted that because quantum communication is possible across the galaxy, if other intelligent beings exist in the Milky Way, they could already be trying to communicate with us using such technology and we could begin looking for them. They also suggest that quantum teleportation across interstellar space should be possible."

Well anything "should" be possible but whether or not its realistically practical and able to be done.

Coding from Dreamtime

An Aboriginal language could hold the key to solving some of the most challenging communication problems between humans and artificial intelligence (AI) systems.

A new paper, published by Frontiers in Physics and led by UNSW Canberra's Professor Hussein Abbass, explains how Jingulu—a language spoken by the Jingili people in the Northern Territory—has characteristics that allow it to be easily translated into AI commands.

"The Aboriginal people have a long history of contributions to the defense of Australia," Professor Abbass said.

"During the Second World War their languages were used for secret communications. Today we are discovering that the wealth and richness of the Aboriginal languages and culture could hold the secret in human-AI interaction."

Professor Abbass said Jingulu is unique, even among Aboriginal languages. With just three verbs—come, go and do—it effectively communicates spatial movements.
