Yahoo Headline Spoils Fantastic Four Death

Re: Fantastic Four to be no more with the death of

And Peter Parkers life will never be the same again now that he has told the world his secret identity, Steve Rogers is dead, Green Lantern, Green Arrow, Superman, Batman, Barry Allen, Iris Allen, Norman Osborn, Thor, Hawkeye, the Vision, etc. Etc.

Re: Fantastic Four to be no more with the death of

there's a thread about yahoo's front page spoiling the death that was still on page one here this morning.

read it.

Nice.

Namor and Sue was awsome.

But how often is he looking at Sue and thinking of Emma?

In I Am An Avenger last month there was a stoy about how johnny was so sad that Luke cage and NO ONE had ever thought he was good enough to be an Avenger.

Though Honestly, do you remember the line up from when Reed and Sue were Avengers for all of 5 minutes? (Issue 300 though maybe 305?) Gilgamesh? Fuck that.

With his Nova blast and if he stops caring about killing the bugs, the only bug he has to be worried about is Annihilus and Johnny just has to keep a wall of corpses between him and Anninihilus and he should be fine for a week or too... Though if he actually managed to wrestle control for the Cosmic Control Rod, he should be able to make a little kingdom of his own in the Negative Zone.

What happened to Gennis-Vel's negabands when the cut him up and threw his body parts through dozens of spacetime portals? Or the fake Skrull Mar-Vell's nega bands?

Or maybe Ben saw the Bugs eating him?

Re: Fantastic Four to be no more with the death of

I think Namor thinks of Sue and Emma at the same time ;) I thought the issue was nicely written. There was some great stuff like the aforementioned scenes involving Namor and Sue. The stuff with Ben and Johnny and the kids. The build up to the final panel was great.

Re: Fantastic Four to be no more with the death of

You know who is going to turn up next month.

Lyja with Johnny's kid.

I mean the egg came out but the other Skrulls laughed "You think that that's a baby?" or some what that like that that she had some one elses Bun in her oven who was on some sort of FF revenge squad... But they hooked up again since then a couple times I beleive.

Besides I'm beginning to think that SKrulls procreate by infecting other species with their dna which eventually changes how they think. If a "Skrull" is the final right of a "virus" fracking over and assimilating a species it's no wonder the Kree take such a hard line against them.

Re: Fantastic Four to be no more with the death of

Seriously, did anyone NOT think it would be Johnny? Hell, I haven't bought a Marvel book since the early 90's and *I* knew it would be Johnny because he's the one guy they haven't killed off before.

So can someone give me the lowdown on the actual story? HOW did Johnny go out? Don't forget your spoiler tags!

Re: Fantastic Four to be no more with the death of

The lock to the portal to the negative breaks down. and John has to close it from the other side, well the Thing in human form, stuck like that now for a week out of every year, tries to be the hero and lock the door, but Johnny kicks him in the rear and Ben stumbles behind the forcefield (door) between earth and a new Annihilation Wavefront of billions of bugs as strong as Superman and Anninihilus, Marvels own version of Darkseid intent on rooting planet earth literally.

So we just get to see Ben, the horrific look on his face, watching Johnny getting eaten and raped by a trillion trillion pissed off bugs as some sort of vabrium lens like the iris from stargate screws closed in front of him.

I think Johnny is the only team member that hasn't had an extended absence or been a member of The Avengers.

Re: Fantastic Four to be no more with the death of

He'll get better.

harrumph. these plot-lines are a waste of time. Everyone knows that the character in question will be back at some point. They always do.

Re: Fantastic Four to be no more with the death of

Anyone make the "Oh my God, they killed Johnny! ...You bastards!" joke yet?

Re: Fantastic Four to be no more with the death of

Yeah, it's so sad. Just like the way Superman was killed after his fight with Doomsday

or Jean Gray after sacrificing herself to stop Dark Phoenix...

or professor X before that was revealed to be not really professor X....

or Jason Todd was killed by the Joker...

What's the current line on how long until Torchy's back?

isn't there literally a trope CALLED "comic book death?"

Re: Fantastic Four to be no more with the death of

Meh, whatever. I'm fairly sure each member of the Fantastic Four has been killed off in someway or another. Not really hard-hitting news

Re: Fantastic Four to be no more with the death of

^ They have. That's been brought up before. Each one of them has died now. Johnny will be back.

Re: Fantastic Four to be no more with the death of

I got a kick out of the writer's comment that they killed him off because he was the voice of optimism. That's certainly a fitting commentary on the times. :rommie:

Re: Fantastic Four to be no more with the death of

Zap2it didn't spoil it in the headline link to their story. However...

Re: Fantastic Four to be no more with the death of

Well, F4 is just over a year away from issue 600 (Of course, the book is ending and re-upping with a new #1, but, as Marvel does a lot these days, will probably "revert to original numbering" after a year, just in time for #600)...

BTW, maybe you should put the OP in spoiler code, as when on the main page, if you put your cursor over the thread title, the first sentence of the thread, and the spoiler, are clearly visable.

Yep.

Oh, and insert the obligatory "he'll be back as Capt. America" joke here.

Re: Fantastic Four to be no more with the death of

So, I finally read the storyline.

It was very well written... but he didn't actually die! We last see him alive and well getting tackled by an army of bugs but then the portal closes and we (And Ben) don't see what happens. So he'll go super nova and kill them all and get away or something. I was expecting more of an actual death. This is patently clear he'll be back very very soon. Which is better than a fake-out death we all know will be reversed, I suppose... but why would Ben just assume he's dead?

Re: Fantastic Four to be no more with the death of

^ Because he has no reason to think he would have survived under those circumstances.
