xmas 07 = first official photo?

do you think that a first photo of at least kirk and spock will be released this christmas, as a 'one year left' thing?


also, nimoy starts shooting tomorrow, surely a pic is imminin tlike look how quick indiana jones pictures came out.

Eh, I don't think so. I think they should keep it as much of a mystery for as long as they can. IMO, Christmas '07 would be too soon to spoil us.

You,know, at this rate, ! can see Abrams doing to Trek what he's doing to Cloverfield: uber-secret to the point of knowing nothing until the day of the movie. The only reason that we know about it even existing this early is because there was no way he could have kept word of a Trek production from us for 2 years!

Given that we're starting to see unflattering cellphone camera pictures of the cast starting to emerge, I think Paramount is going to insist that some image be released soon. My guess is we'll see something when the teaser trailer is released -- IF the trailer actually shows anything. As discussed in another thread, the teaser could easily show nothing of the new film and just be something of a "legend reborn" all-text type of thing.

A photocall might well be scheduled while Nimoy is filming his initial studio bound scenes. That could act as a taster, without giving too much away. Something for the fans and press alike... Nimoy back as Spock for magazine covers and so forth. Official stills of the entire main cast together on set and in costume, following next Spring/early Summer. That's my prediction.

Let's face it.

CBS/Paramount is run by cruel fiends.

They deliberately let us know the movie was coming well ahead of their intended release of any official photos.

They're probably even behind the ones we HAVE seen, which have really shown us so little. (Oh...Spock will have pointed ears. How unexpected.)

I'm fully convinced.

They're trying to hurt us. Badly.

They want us to suffer for another year.

They may even wait until mid-December next year to announce it was all a joke and there is no "Trek XI".

These people are monsters who want us to dry up inwardly and die.

I think if Paramount releases any official photos, it'll be of Leonard Nimoy as Spock. First of all, having him in the film is a big deal. Secondly, a pic of him wouldn't necessarily reveal anything new. It's not like we've never seen him in-character before. I don't think we'll see official pics of the new cast in uniform anytime soon.

I think we might reasonably expect actual publicity for the film to commence sometime following the teaser trailer. I'll guess "early Spring," i.e. March or April.
