Xindi Superweapon

Well, the Borg did ram a cube into a species 8472 ship in Scorpion. Of course, they were desperate to save Voyager.

Are you sure about that? are you sure the Cube didnt just get inbetween Voyager and the 8472 ship as it fired taking the brunt of the attack to protect voyager?

I might be wrong (OK, it's quite likely), but I don't recall the Borg ships having shields because few weapons pose much of a threat to them. But the Xindi weapon has enough juice to destroy a planet, which suggests that even at a "safe" distance it would still be powerful enough to destroy a cube.

What I think is interesting is that Voyager can take more punishment from 8472 ships than the substantially larger Borg ships can... clearly Federation technology has some advantages over Borg technology.

TNG had shown that a shuttlecraft passed through a Borg's ship shields (although they may not be deflectors). Chances are the Xindi weapon has a hard time targeting smaller and more maneuverable targets.

Well, in BoBW, the fired off an anti-matter spread that messed with Borg sensors, so the shuttle was able to slip in... (I forgot about the shields in that episode.)

I posted not long back in a Dominion vs Borg thread that in a war a Kamikaze hit from just one bug ship at a speed of .9c could take down an entire borg cube to which someone disagreed saying the Borg shields would protect the cube and one small bug ship isnt big enough to destroy an entire cube, after seeing a hit by just one 8472 bioship destroying a Borg cube I now rest my case, also I pointed out in that thread that the Borg likely dont have shields on their cubes, everytime we've seen the Borg they seem to prefer to regenerate their damage rather than prevent it which to me makes sense, the shields are a huge drain on power, power which could be best used in their weapons system, the size of a cube allows for it to take massive damage and yet still be able to regenerate it. Its seems logical to assume that the reason Voyager withstodd a hit from an 8472 Bioship is because Voyager was protected by shields whereas Borg cubes had no shields allowing the bioship attack to destroy them, they clearly cant regenerate the damage when the damage is instantly so severe that the cube explodes.

EDIT: I just watched a vid clip of a Voyager/Borg battle and the Borg do mention a Primary shield matrix, but that was onboard a Borg Probe ship, a small ship with only the equivalent fire power of Voyager, its likely on such small ships there are shields but on much larger cubes I dont think they'd bother. Even if cubes did have shields they're probably not full blown shields like you see on Starfleet vessels, just some kind of energy field designed to adapt to specific weapons but unable to withstand huge barrages or a Kamikaze runs and unable to adapt to multiple types of weapons at the same time .
