XCOM sci-fi franchise game FPS reboot for 2011

XCOM, a reboot of the classic sci-fi franchise for Xbox 360 and PC.

the publisher has now pencilled the game in for 2011

Though it will be a first-person shooter, they said they will try to keep some main concepts from the original game, such as Elerium.

Elerium-115 is a fictional element featured in the X-COM video game series,

Elerium reminds me of Dilithium.

FYI the franchise started in 1994 with X-COM: UFO Defense AKA X-COM: Enemy Unknown for the European market)

Yeah the gaming mags have been featuring it for a few months now but I know zero about the I.P./franchise.

I'm not opposed to playing it but I'd like to see some gameplay vids on it.

I'd like to see a feature film with this kind of sci-fi FX...cool stuff.
Really great 1950's era with magic hour lighting on all exterirors.

Looks like, other than some name-dropping, this game really has nothing to do with X-COM. Sad. I kinda think a genuine X-COM FPS could be really cool.

This game doesn't look bad, it just looks like the X-COM connection is nothing more than a cash-in, not an attempt to revive or expand the franchise.

Yeah, it feels like they were trying to make an original IP, realised that it wouldn't sell all that well in a recession with a glut of FPS games. So they named it X-COM.
