Xbox 360 Dashboard Update video

I bought the giant Q-Tip prop for $2 because it cracks me up every time I see it. It'll probably be the last thing I buy, as I don't see any reason to pay for clothes.

Most of it I don't care about save for the increased Netflix functionality. At least later on we'll be able to download 360 games through the service, which may prove useful. There is something to be said for owning the physical media, though. Just ask those people who had 1984 on their Kindle's!

It's good for the convenience of being able to play a game without searching for a disc... but for most of the games, you can probably find a cheaper copy somewhere else.

The Monkey Island stuff is cool... but I just can't buy virtual clothes or animations. Especially if there's no real Home-like environment to show it off.

It seems with the new preview update, game installs are smaller depending on the game. people are guessing it does not install unnecessary language files. You can save anything from a few MB to a gig or 2.

While Games on demand has a element of convenience, my problem with it is you can buy the games cheaper in the shop and you can then sell it on when you are done. Game companies hate the fact you can sell games on and they don't get a penny, they want all games to be d/l only so you can't trade them, sell them or let friends borrow them.

I don't have a problem with cheap XBLA games but when they do this for full prices games (and trust me, devs. & publishers want this) I'm not bothering with games anymore. Thankfully the day its not here yet

The fall update will include Sky for international and I have to say, I'm Jelly-ous.

Its just the UK and maybe ireland getting Sky, the French are getting Canal TV (major french station)

Well, hopefully the pricing will come in line.

I mean, there's a reason why publishers let Valve sell their games for half price every weekend - there's data that shows more people will buy games when they're cheaper!

Shocking, I know... but go figure. Then again, Activision raising prices in the UK can only mean that a 69.99 USD price point is going to hit America sooner rather than later, so who knows. :p

I swear, I'll riot in the streets if they do that. I may be alone, but I'll do it

if you look at the prices on consoles for d/l games they are much higher, take the xbox1 games, its cheaper to buy it from a shop 2nd hand then pay £12 or whatever they are. Also on XBL and PSN, you rarely see discounted games weekend, MS do the deal of the week but its more miss than hit as it mostless over priced DLC

I'm expecting the games to be £19.99 about 2300 MSP when I can buy Bioshock new for about £15 or about £8 2nd hand.

I think it's all been confirmed that in the US anyway, 360 games will be 20 bucks.

That said, I think the service will die if they even try to charge 60 bucks for a new game online. The only way that would even work is if they do preloading ala Steam so that you don't have to wait 3 hours in front of a store just to buy a game. But man, that's so far ahead in the future that I might as well be talking about flying cars and holodecks.

Not really, maybe in 5 years. At the minute its just old titles but devs and publisher hate the fact if a gamer sells their game they don't get a penny. They call it "2nd hand piracy".

All they have to do is have a big name game to be exclusive to games on demand or for the first 3 weeks. I could see activison doing it for Call of duty 10

Well said.

I'm done with gaming the day games go digital download only; that's not a threat--it's just the reality of it for me. I only keep a handful of titles I buy (the ones with a ton of replay value or the ones I really, really loved) and resell the rest to fund new games. Not being able to do that? Sorry devs--you might have cut out the used game market eating into your margins, but you're also cutting me out because I'm simply not paying $50-$60 per game without the chance to resell an average game I no longer want or worse yet, a crappy one I don't like.

$0.99 music tracks or $15 XBLA or PSN games are one thing, but we all know new release games that would've appeared on DVD/BD aren't going to be that cheap.

Hopefully the economies will scale and games will cost the same as movies. It's starting to happen with PC games so I give it a decade or so before console games come in line.

Just read this about the update.

"Lazy Eject:
If you are this lazy, you can go to the My Xbox blade, and hover over the game disk, you can now press X to eject the current disk inside, although, it still doesn’t change the game for you. Yet.

Clear the Cache:
You can now clear the cache for your Hard Drive now without entering that long combo(X,X,LB,RB,X,X). All you have to do now is go to the Hard Drive and press Y, then select Clear Cache.

Improved Primetime Channel:
The primetime channel now is a lot faster and feels better. It now lists all of the shows in smaller more compact blocks. Also I have noticed that the shows no longer start to repeat when you start to scroll through them a lot.

Clicking Sound when you enter chat:
Now when you enter a chat or party you hear a clicking sound through the headset similar to what you used to hear when you enter or leave a chat. Sometimes this can be helpful, but sometimes this can be annoying.

Faster Gamertag Recovery:
Now when you recover a gamertag it does go faster. I noticed it took me only a few minutes compared to the usual hour when I tried this. I am not sure on everyone, but I assume it is now the same.

Smaller Game Install Sizes:
You may now install games that are smaller than the previous 3 gigabyte limit. This allows some bonus disks and smaller games to be installed onto your hard drive."
