X-MEN: FIRST CLASS (Casting, Rumors, Pics till release)

^^ That's exactly what I meant, thanks Christopher. I really want to see this movie now and I'm not resigned to the fact that none of these movies seem to be getting novelizations which sucks.

No, I understood that it was a reference to Wolverine's comic book (and animated X-Men) outfit. Admiral's 'in-universe' explanation is something I wouldn't have thought of.

I know it was brief but did my statement not put it into context enough? It was only 2 posts after you inquired. Just wondering but glad you "get" the possibility of it now. :techman:

^ It would look better if it weren't so obviously photoshopped. The pic of Mystique that I posted and you quoted Broc looks like it is photoshopped into the poster. Fox must be on a budget or something.

Dude, they all looked obviously photo-shopped! :p

At least it is visually interesting as opposed to X-Men Origins: Wolverine's poster. That one just screams "We have five minutes; slap something together!"

I'm sure, at the time, Cyclops' joke was a reference to Wolverine's comic-book outfit. I doubt Singer and company knew in the back of their heads that they would be making a prequel several years later with the X-Men wearing yellow spandex. :p

Like Christopher said I was meaning my explanation to be an in-universe joke. There's no reason why Scott wouldn't have worn the old uniforms :) Wow this has gotten off track a bit lol.

Is anybody else getting a sense of deja vu? :D Sorry, CC, I think I missed your comment in the sea of others, but thanks for clarifying.

Your comment works as a pretty good piece of retconning! At the time of X-Men's release, it clearly did refer to Wolvie's comic strip outfit but now on the release of this movie, it applies to the First Class uniforms too.

According to http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0120903/trivia:
In the comics the X-Men wore a distinctive blue-gold uniform, but the filmmakers revised the uniform to black leather suits. Tom DeSanto explained that test designs of the X-Men in their blue-gold outfits were unsuccessful, and Bryan Singer noted that durable black leather made more sense for the X-Men to wear as protective clothing. Despite support from Stan Lee and Chris Claremont, many fans were upset about the change in costumes, so Bryan Singer added dialogue referring to the issue - when Wolverine complains about the uniforms, Cyclops replies "What would you prefer, yellow spandex?" The blue-gold uniforms would appear in the prequel X-Men: First Class (2011).
However, they cite no references.
