X-MEN: FIRST CLASS (Casting, Rumors, Pics till release)

I would agree that it didn't flow like the others.

But there is so much crap out now. Comic book films are overwhelming the theaters, and there aren't many that have half the good ideas that The Last Stand has.

Edit: double post was accidental. Really.

Mods go easy on me. I'm a good soul.

I don't think comic book movies are overwhelming theaters. I don't get this kind of mentality from fans. There are five this year (six if you include the comedy "Super"). There are five next year (if "The Wolverine" is on schedule). I don't think that's overwhelming.

Back when I was a youngster, in the good 'ole days, all the way back in the year 2002, we only had one superhero movie per year. And you know what, sonny, we liked it, because we weren't greedy, you see, and we enjoyed what we got.

Unlike you hipsters these days, with your multiple superhero adaptations per year, and your superhero "TV shows". You don't know how good you got it, ya see.

Humph.

I stand by the fact that there were a lot of good ideas in that film. it wasn't great overall, but is by far not as dreadful as people say it is.
Some people agree with me.

I agree too. Thanks to my recent discovery of a used-DVD store, I just bought and watched both the X-Men trilogy and the Spider-Man trilogy, and in both cases I think the third movie is flawed but still satisfying. They both suffer from trying to tell too many stories at once, which is due to studio meddling, but still work reasonably well and have portions that are beautifully effective.

In particular, I don't understand why Brett Ratner gets so much heat for X-Men: The Last Stand. That film's problems are in the script, which was pretty much locked down before he even came aboard. Its actual execution is quite effective, and there are some excellent directorial touches in it. There are moments that I find very impressive, like Angel's flight over San Francisco and the climactic destruction wrought by Dark Phoenix (which reminds me of Akira). I do think that maybe a stronger director could've reined in Halle Berry somewhat more and kept her from playing a totally different character than she played in the first two films, but then again, it's hard for anyone to rein in a performer at her level of fame.

I still wonder what Matthew Vaughn would have been able to do. I guess we'll get a glimpse with First Class...we're getting a little off topic here too...I guess that happens with a lack of news. I wonder when the next trailer will be.

If you are going to count Super then it would be seven including Paul Bettany's Priest.

Apparently X4 is still a possibility. Same with Deadpool. Also actual image of Beast in his blue furr glory!

January Jones looks airbrushed to high hell in that pic though.

I'm having an issue with the link but I know it's on this end not the link itself. Work filters can be an issue at times.

Does she say anything more than just X-4 is a possibility?

Agree that JJones looks 'shopped very much to point of looking like a caricture moreso than Beast looks unreal with the fur. How that managed that is a bit funny in and of itself.

This is from the link:

She says "X4" is in 'active development at Fox.' "We took the treatment to Fox and they love it... And X4 leads into X5."

On Deadpool, she says, "It's a total reboot... We're either going to pretend that didn't happen - or mock it, which he could. It's insane, it's definitely comedy. But it's an R script, it's really irreverent and violent. Right away, we're out of the X-Men world."

I guess McAvoy is putting his finger to his head in a Professor X "mind power" gesture, but it kinda looks like Cyclops reaching up to trigger his visor.

And the new Mystique doesn't look nearly as good in the makeup as Romijn did. Partly because she's wearing clothes....

I like the retro-Cerebro helmet. Looks like the Great Teacher from "Spock's Brain."
