wwe vs tnt anyone watching?

Raw could be interesting tonight as it features the return of Roddy Piper (who seems to have returned to the company rather silently IMO) and Piper's Pit where his guest will be none other than Super Cena! Also of course we have the WWE Title Match between CM Punk Vs Alberto Del Rio that John L made last week. If Del Rio wins without the conspiracy angle being furthered I'll be pissed. Triple H was rumoured to be returning tonight as well but haven't seen anything confirming that he'll be back.

Don't see Del Rio winning the belt anytime soon because he hasn't been a draw as champion. I think they are looking at building him up before proceeding with another title reign. The plan at the moment seems to be putting Miz into a program with CM Punk over the WWE Championship. Both men are proven draws as champion and with Cena's focus shifting to his feud with The Rock, it looks like they will have a long feud.

Piper's Pit could be epic depending on which way they want it to work. If Piper heels on Cena (likely) then it will probably end with the set being destroyed and a near-60 year old man getting an Attitude Adjustment. If they want to play it smart, they could have Cena destroy the set in frustration and threaten Piper in a heelish way. Of course, this isn't likely but it would be good storytelling to show the frustration that Cena feels because The Rock has constantly got the better of him.

Yeah frankly I'm expecting a successful Punk title defense with no hijinks and a lame Raw even with the Piper's Pit. I'm surprised his first guest out of the shoot (no pun intended) isn't Mick Foley. That would have been more entertaining. I may or may not watch.

^ I thought it obvious...it's Sin Cara. Maybe we will get a Cena heel turn eventually. I want the Thuganomics Master back! :)

So if that was John Morrison's last "match" he got buried pretty good by Miz hahaha. So now heel Miz is in some kind of weird trance?? WTF? Heel Michael Cole is so over and done now. I have no idea why they keep continuing to milk it at us fans expense. Cole himself has gotta be sick and tired of it by now.

That was the first Raw in years where John Cena hasn't wrestled or had more than 15 minutes of TV time!

I'm not a fan of Alberto Del Rio's style of wrestling, it's really slow paced and classic heel to the point that it makes me think I'm watching a tag team match with his opponent playing the Ricky Morton role! When Del Rio first debuted, the IWC went wild because he scored a victory over Rey Mysterio and they all thought that he was going to be this awesome wrestler that would save everyone from Cena. As it turns out though, Del Rio isn't particulary over yet and it's likely down to WWE shoving him down our throats and expecting too much of him. He's a really talented guy, but he just hasn't had many opportunities to fully establish himself yet.

I remember that the IWC were demanding that Del Rio cash in his MITB as early as MITB itself! They couldn't be satisfied with a CM Punk victory - no, instead they wanted some "Russo booking" to occur with a title switch that would piss off the extremely involved hometown crowd and destroy the momentum that CM Punk had built up in the weeks prior to the match. I actually dislike the IWC and I can dislike them without being a mark. I'm technically a "smart mark" but I don't like that term and prefer to be just known as a "wrestling fan" with a lot of knowledge about the business.

cm punk did call alberto boring. not to many good matches except for zack ryder match where he won. I loved mick's pop there as santa. I was wondering are they doing there IRAQ show this year?

Well that was a Meh Raw. Good thing I didn't watch all of it...a clean Punk title defense. I though Punk's move to counter the attempted disqualification was brilliant... reminiscent of Del Rio locking Cena out of the Hell in the Cell. Can we at least all agree now they've lost all momentum from what they had from the Summer time? There is zero progression of angles or story lines from what I can see, at least the main one. I liked Daniel Bryan's promo he cut on Henry though.

I have to disagree about momentum being lost because Punk is extremely over right now and they were never supposed to have a feud back at Summerslam time anyway. That happened because WWE were rushing to get the belt on Del Rio in time for their tour of Mexico. In hindsight, they would probably have drawn more had they strapped Sin Cara!

I do agree about the storyline progressions, it seems like WWE has abandoned the conspiracy angle. It makes me wonder what kind of risk was involved that made them so reluctant to continue the storyline?

I'm guessing it's because they're completely clueless how to further it so they've introduced all these swerves/back door outs in our faces. Kevin Nash is still filming the movie so I guess that is why they wrote Triple H out of the arc. I wasn't just talking about Punk in the equation...Punk will be over with whatever he does title or not IMO. I'm talking about story line wise. They triggered it with Punk's popularity in the first place now it's gone all over the place and we've seen all kinds of weird and TNA like stuff happen since. I mean I guess one can blame Ron Killings for violating the wellness policy for the breakup of the Awesome Truth but they weren't frankly doing anything with them in the first place except getting buried each week. They should have had the tag titles from Air Boom...but oh yeah wait...Evan Bourne tested positive. I guess I'm done for a while guys. Not feeling it any more. I'll chirp in occasionally and if any interesting news crops up I'll pop in but I think tonight was my last Raw for a while.

raw need a new #1 contender for the next ppv. who thinks it's going to be John cena. all so did john give piper his ring back?

Yeah, Cena gave Piper his ring back before he left the ring to a chorus of boos. It's interesting, because normally when stuff like this happens it's a prelude to a heel turn. Knowing WWE's stance on Cena, I don't think it will happen but you never know.

^ This is part of what I'm talking about that has bothered the hell out of me...all this safe booking and "swerve" stuff. I'm probably in the minority in terms of the greater "WWE Universe" and probably in this thread too but they are not making things more entertaining they're sapping the interest out of the product IMO. I could think of at least a half a dozen other possible things (and have in the thread frankly) that are better than what is going on right now and I'm not even talking about nWo reborn. I think that shipped has sailed. Major PPV's have passed NOTHING has happened. I mean we've had Michael Cole and Jim Ross for segment after segment for Rao's sake!!! I'm just really frustrated right now :)

John Morrison says he'll post on his future next week.

Oh, so much for "tearing down the house" on Raw.

Surprisingly, John Morrison is the only "on the way out" talent in recent memory to be allowed to look competitive in his last set of matches. Hell, WWE even allowed him a spot on the Survivor Series card in place of NY's Zack Ryder - which many people had paid to see!

I've considered that this may be a massive work and that Morrison has actually re-signed with the company and they are doing all this in an effort to pull the wool over the dirtsheets. Then again, I don't think WWE would even bother doing this because they won't get anything out of it. It's something TNA would do, by working everyone into thinking that Hogan was retiring - only for them to reveal it was part of an angle.

WWE should scrap NXT and replace it with a Divas only show. This would follow the internet format of NXT and also put an end to the 1 minute humilations that are shown every week on Raw. The Divas could actually do something with a one hour weekly show and use it to actually develop well rounded storylines that make their PPV matches mean something. WWE could go all the way with this, they could have female commentators, referees and ring announcers. The NXT ship has sailed WWE - do something about your Divas division!

I wonder if Brodus Clay's debut will be delayed for yet another week? If it is, you've got to hope that WWE have a pay off with his first opponent. Then again, we're probably looking at a squash match against Santino with Michael Cole going on and on about how dangerous Brodus is and how he's going to make his mark on the WWE Universe or some shit. They did the same with Mason Ryan and he managed to flop, joined Nexus, turned babyface and was eliminated from the SS match by Cody Rhodes of all people!

Out of everyone in the "mic skills are more important than wrestling" kingdom of WWE, the only people who can actually cut promos without seeming over the top or relying too much on archaic facial expressions and pauses are...

CM Punk
The Rock
John Cena
Triple H
R-Truth

The Miz's promo last night was terrible, especially for a guy who was once gold on the mic (tag team with Morrison days). There is a reason the crowd chants "What" and it's because most promos are unbearable to listen to. They take so long and go over the same points constantly without really enhancing the person delivering them in any real way. This is probably down to very few wrestlers actually being allowed freedom over the promos they cut - in fact the only people who are allowed this freedom are the one's I've listed. I'd assume that R-Truth is given material, but it's up to him how he delivers it because I doubt that anyone working in the WWE writers room could come up with the ludicrously hilarious methods of delivery that Truth does in each of his promos.

It boggles me how many members of the IWC still go on about Chris Benoit and seem to forget that the man murdered his family and then took his own life in one weekend. Sure, Benoit was one of my favourite wrestlers and I really marked out for his matches, but that doesn't excuse what he did. It was a tragedy and nothing can justify his actions on that weekend. The facts are that he had brain damage resembling that of an elderly man with advanced stages of Alzheimer's disease and what contributed to this was likely a result of his decision to take chair shots to the head on a regular basis.

Furthermore, Benoit had been abusing steroids for years which can cause all sorts of physical and even mental problems. It's not roid rage, because otherwise he would have committed the murders all at once - which he didn't. Anyway, the point is that Chris Benoit was criminally insane and even though he can still be considered one of the best of all time - his actions have forever tarnished his legacy and no one should excuse what he did.

The world of wrestling is a pretty dark and dirty place, although in recent years it has improved. There's a lot of horror stories out there regarding what goes on in the business and what the wrestlers get up to outside of the ring. Up until around the beginning of the decade, there was a hell of a lot of drug abuse and many "insiders" have commented upon the wrestlers lining up to buy assorted drugs from doctors who were looking to make money on the side.

You always hear about Ric Flair's legendary antics, but you rarely hear of what they entail. From what I understand, Flair would get drunk and/or high, spend a shitload of money, get laid several times in one night and then end up completely naked. The wrestlers call this "doing a naitch". Back in the day, partying was the preferred medium of relaxation for wrestlers but nowadays thankfully, it's things like playing video games, listening to music or going to the gym.

All this "back in the day" stuff about wrestling reminds me of North Dallas Forty where Nick Nolte plays an American football player that spends most of the movie taking drugs and partying - yet, he's a brilliant player!

very cool I thought they were'nt going to do it. awesome I hope they cast the miz as the villian.:rofl::rofl:

Well, he dominated John Morrison in what is possibly his last match with World Wrestling Entertainment... so, there's that.
