wwe vs tnt anyone watching?

I'm curious as to what Vince does actually own regarding rights to Hogan's stuff.

Not an awful lot actually, it seems that Hogan was able to trademark almost everything related to his gimmick throughout the years. The only thing he couldn't trademark was the "Hulk" part of his name, which was disputed by Marvel, although they eventually settled on a fair use policy with each other.

Vince does own 90% of Hogan's career on tape as WWE has accumulated almost all footage from AWA and WCW (two no longer active companies that Hogan had worked prolifically for). Vince also owns the rights to the nWo including presumably, the Hollywood Hogan attire.

The name "Hollywood" originally came into play during Hogan's dispute with Marvel over the "Hulk" name. Following Hogan's heel turn and his joining of the nWo - he adopted it as part of his name in order to differentiate his face character (Hulk Hogan) with the heel character he was now portraying ("Hollywood" Hulk Hogan or Triple H ;)).

I'm not entirely sure if Vince has ever contested the trademarks to Hogan's gimmick. It was Vince himself - and his fascination with Irish names, that came up with "Hulk Hogan". Before WWF, Hogan went by Sterling Golden or Terry Boulder.

I forgot about the Marvel dispute. Marvel Smash Hulk!!! Sorry couldn't resist! I'm assuming though that WWE through their purchase of WCW now owns Hulkamania and all of it's trademarks and the Real American Hero theme? Thus the bad riffs in theme songs that TNA has been using for Immortal's nWo theme.

looking forward to monday night raw. I am currious on how there going to do the whole muppet show on raw. and will we see kelly, kelly vs miss piggy.:lol::lol::lol:
and which muppets are going to be there?

It's been confirmed that Daniel Bryan will be challenging the World Heavyweight Champion at Wrestlemania (unless plans change, which they often do in WWE).

There could be a potential for disaster here, given the way Danielson has been portrayed as of late.

Well considering WWE has announced The Rock as wrestling at Survivor Series, I think we have our answer!

It's a serious eyebrow raiser for WWE to publically announce The Rock's return in the ring only to then feign ignorance by having John Cena ask The Rock to team with him when it's old news. Kayfabe seems to have kicked itself in the proverbials!

What's the point of posting company websites? We know how to find them.

I was just reading that Chris Jericho once again tweeted that there are "still no plans right now" about his return and that it was a "dumb move on their part" not to include him in WWE '12.

So wow. I don't know if Chris is using twitter in kayable mode right now or what is going on. He sounds disgruntled with the company which is strange in my view. Also seems weird if he is using twitter as a negotiation tactic. It just gives some fans (i.e. the hardcore marks) the wrong impression and makes the rest of us scratch our heads wondering what the fuck is going on.

Tonight's Raw could be a disaster...

Whilst I am a passive fan of The Muppets, I really don't think they'll fit in the WWE environment and what we'll be seeing is an incredibly cartoonish environment where the WWE wrestlers play ignorant to the fact that The Muppets aren't real.

I've also been hearing around the web that The Muppets will factor into the Michael Cole vs Jim Ross match. Will WWE ever be done trying to humiliate their announce team? (particulary Jim Ross, who has done nothing but give his best to the company for the best part of twenty years!)

Creative will stop humiliating the announcers when Vince stops thinking it is amusing and or "kewl". We fans think it's stupid. We know from certain promos (i.e. Mick Foley) that the announcers don't really like it either. Anyway, Raw could indeed be a disaster or it could turn out to be funny as hell. I'm leaning towards the former rather than the latter. I still laugh while recalling Trips line to Cody Rhodes a couple weeks ago where he said he would book him with the Muppets! That was hilarious.

Since this is a pro-wrestling thread on a Star Trek forum, this seems relevant:

CMPunk retweeted George Takei:

"Kim Kardashian files for divorce after 72 days. Another example of how same-sex marriage is destroying the sanctity of the very institution."

My respect and admiration for CMPunk just rose by several degrees of magnitude. I already knew how awesome George Takei is.

Apparently a Diva's Halloween costume contest is set for tonight too! That should be interesting compared to the non-PG contests we've seen in the past.

If I was booking tonight's show I'd have The Muppets do commentary along with Jerry Lawler for the Michael Cole vs Jim Ross match. The whole point of this would be done to antagonise Cole since he's obviously giving himself the advantage in the match. With Cole distracted by The Muppets at ringside, JR has a chance to gain the upper hand in the match and get the win. I don't really know what WWE is planning in regards to commentary, but I do know that Cole can be just as, if not more effective in another role.

Can you imagine the heat from having Michael Cole announce that John Laurinaitis offered him a job as Assistant GM and that he's accepted?! Follow this up by having Cole announce that he's booked Miz and Truth in a handicap match against Hornswoggle (in reference to Hornswoggle being a big fan and the Muppets costing Cole his match). Then you have the inevitable Cena run-in/no contest that progresses to Cena getting his answer, via satellite from The Rock.

WWE is often predictable but I've made it a personal challenge to get into the mindset of WWE booking and be able to anticipate the way the creative team works. If WWE offered me a job, I'd take it despite how bad I think the current product is. Why would I do this? Because it is an amazing opportunity that pays good money and can lead to a position of influence where I may be able to fix the current product and put an end to the alienation of the long time fanbase. This is entirely hypothetical though!

That would be pretty cool...which means it would never happen :)

Chris Masters apparently deleted a recent tweet implying that a DIVA (he didn't say who) was sleeping around with a certain freebird. Read that into what you will. The fact that it was deleted pretty much immediately makes me think there is at least something to it...he later stated he was talking hypothetically. The back stage stuff, rumours or not has always fascinated me.

It could just be that he's pissed off with one of the Diva's and has decided to start a rumour now that he's not obligated to the company (the only person who is seemingly immune from being fired for starting such rumors is Randy Orton).

It could be true though, but I think it was more Masters being in a shitty mood and looking to piss some people off by starting a couple of rumors. I can understand why he is pissed off though, the guy worked his ass off to get back into the good graces of WWE and took all the nonsense in stride. Triple H even commented to him that his work has been exceptional and they are working on a push for him. To work really hard and get that kind of feedback and promising news from creative, only to get released must be extremely frustrating.

That in itself leads to a motive (if the Diva rumor is true) for Masters revealing such information - he doesn't think it's fair that he works his ass off and it amounts to nothing whilst another employee does barely any work and keeps her job by "servicing" those with influence.

Speaking of Randy Orton, prior to getting married he could be the ultimate asshole. In 2004-2005 he was apparently involved in two Diva's leaving the company because they claimed that he harrassed them. There are many stories of hard partying and wrecking hotel property attributed to Orton. His bad attitude resulted in numerous conflict with his fellow employees (it's even rumored that he and Triple H nearly came to blows a few times and still don't have the best of relationships), but Orton wasn't really disciplined because he was a huge star and seen as the "future of the WWE". It all came to stop when Orton was suspended for 60 days after OD'ing (which he has since admitted on his recent DVD) and vowed to turn himself around. Now that he has a family he's stopped partying, become more diplomatic and stopped doing drugs (including steroids). It's a really positive thing to see a professional wrestler come back like that.

Wasn't Orton disciplined though for his hijinks? I do seem to remember him being "fired" back in 03 or so for spreading rumours about Stacy Keibler (how far has she come eh ;) ). I remember reading there were also rumours that he was sleeping with her. They were all bogus of course. Not the first time Orton was in trouble for back stage nonsense either.

Nope, he was never fired for any rumors relating to Stacey Kiebler. In fact they worked together near the end of 04 and beginning of 05 in an onscreen romance angle, which came to an end when Orton RKO'd her and turned heel.

He was virtually untouchable and with the exception of maybe having been brought to the wrestlers court, he recieved very little discipline. Orton and Mark Jindrak (who continue to remain friends) were notorious for their partying and antics when on the road. It's a possibility that Jindrak's depush in 04 and later release was down to his behaviour outside the ring.

WWE finally had enough of it in 06 and suspended him for his own good (after the aforementioned OD incident). It was initially reported that he was suspended for unacceptable conduct (which others reported as him failing a wellness test), but the real story came to light when Orton revealed the exact reason on his recent DVD. Like I said though, he's really matured.

I missed the end of your previous post...my apologies. It is astonishing how Orton seems to be isolated and protected from everything, both back stage and on camera. It's like Vince considers him an ace in the hole or something. He really seems to be the active Chris Jericho right now, in the sense of when things go bad go to Chris, only it's Randy. I like the feud with Cody Rhodes but it really does nothing for Randy. It is like they are waiting to do something with him.

It would be interesting if he was somehow involved in the conspiracy angle (I know he isn't, i'm fantasy speculating right now) I would place him with the Awesome Truth to form the Awesome Viper Truth!:p Otherwise he's not really relevant right now and of course I'm a big Orton mark so me to say this is significant.
