wwe vs tnt anyone watching?

as for kurt angel he's the greatest all together. damn shame he's tna right now.

You remind me of how Chris Jericho used to mockingly refer to Kurt as "Kirk Angel".

Last night was the most I've watched RAW in a long time. The allure of a whole show centered around The Rock was enough for me to break my streak of never watching more than 5 minutes of the show over the past 5 years.

A few observations and questions from an 'newer' viewer...

- John Cena wrestles exactly the same as he did back in 2002 when he debuted. Remember that "same old shit" chant at "One Night Stand" 2006? Couldn't have put it better myself.

- The Miz is a good wrestler. I think this was the first time I ever saw him wrestle. He does a few too many neck breakers, but at least that's better than how Orton used to overdo it with the chinlocks. :p

- Jack Swagger and Drew Mcintyre (or however the hell you spell his name) look SO generic. Guys like these two are one of the biggest reasons why I lost interest in pro wrestling.

- I'm relieved that for once they didn't use Mae Young for some disgusting joke that's painful to watch. The Rock kissing her was even kind of sweet.

- I loved that sincere moment of congratulations exchange between The Rock and Christian.

- I think this was the first time I've ever seen Awesome Kong on TV. When she rose to prominence in TNA, I had already stopped watching (although I think I've seen stills of her online). Has she always been that fat? I heard she put on some great matches, so I assumed she was muscular. On TV last night, she looked really overweight, and I can't imagine how someone can be mobile enough to wrestle well at that size.

- It's cute how Rey Misterio puts one of his masks on a fan. Reminds me of how Bret Hart would put his shades on kids. I dig that old school wrestling good guy stuff.

- The Rock's new T-shirt has a neat concept. The best wrestling themed shirts are ones like that. Shirts a person could wear without others necessarily knowing they're related to wrestling. It could work both as wrestling merch and just a cool patriotic shirt. I expect it to sell like hotcakes.

- I figured there would be some kind of 9/11-related content due to the Bin Laden thing, but I'm surprised the montage didn't include the part of Bradshaw's clip from the post 9/11 show where he said something like, "To the sorry son of a bitch who did this, we're gonna get ya!". They even showed part of the Bradshaw clip! Why show it and leave out the best part? I enjoyed that bit because it seemed like an honest expression of how he felt while at the same time being kinda in character for what his character was like at the time.

It was an okay show, but it didn't make me want to watch RAW every week. It also wasn't quite what I expected from a party episode. I was imagining something more like when Mankind celebrated The Rock's birthday with balloons, a custom sock puppet, a clown, and various other funny crap in that highest rated segment ever.

This was maybe the one time Russo's penchant for weird tangents unrelated to wrestling lead to something brilliant, and definitely the only time I'd ever think he and Foley could have made an episode of RAW better at this point.

I generally am playing Rockband with friends when it is on... outside of Angle, Daniels, and Alex Shelly there isn't much reason for me to watch.

timothy if you're wondering what TNA has in store for you this week...it will probably be much the same as the last few weeks :) Except more run in finishes and boring opening show monologue promos!!! In all seriousness these shows are taped in advanced so you could check out the spoilers beforehand if you wanted like I do.

Some news...it's being rumored that we'll see Michael Cole Vs Jerry Lawler at Over the Limit with a stipulation tossed in (maybe with one of them leaving TV or something) and that the WWE is looking to finally end the feud.

Michelle McCool does indeed look to be done, she thanked the fans on her twitter.

Part of the reason Vince wants to change WWE's name has to do with the proposed WWE TV channel that he he wants to set up for next year.

I really cant see enough advertisign dollars coming to a WWE channel, but then again he would probably already have advertisers lined up before he even starts. Watching old matches from anything pre the Wrestling wars will just be to boring for todays young audience. Half an hour of chin locks and arm bars will really put people to sleep. I can rememeber hearing the announcer say 30minutes remaining back in the day when the matches used to go on for an hour. The WWE also has not had a strong movie hit streak. The junk they put out is just not entertaining and again noone will watch.

^ The WWE Channel would broadcast WWE programming, would most likely have both Raw and Smackdown along with Tough Enough and NXT if they continue it. As for marketing...WWE is very marketable and yeah this probably won't happen until Vince already has stuff lined up. I expect Vince probably envisions the channel similar to the NFL Network. I could see them offering all their PPV's on the channel as well.

If showing Classic matches like 24/7 does is boring young audiences then they're not really true wrestling fans in my opinion. I was fascinated by Buddy Rodgers, Bruno Sammartino, Verne Gange, etc when I was young. Still am.

they could have segments of wrestling going all the way back to 50's the golden age of tv. I mean look at how RAW STARTS. they could allso have episodes from other companies just to get tv time.

^ They won't show other companies stuff timothy. Vince doesn't work like that. It would probably show the material that WWE owns and that's it. I wouldn't be surprised if it had the Florida developmental organization on the channel. "See the future superstars of tomorrow, today." That's how I'd market it.

Maybe some WCW stuff, they own those tapes... along with the Smoky Mountain Wrestling stuff...I'm sure the video library is larger than we think.

Vince has always been wanting to do things other than wrestling so a network could be the launching pad for multiple ventures.

what about the awa american wrestling association. I think he owns them. and vince could sell spots. and he all so could put previous ppv's on the air dating from the begining. show like the royal rummble or even some europian wrestling shows the have and don't air.

As I stated everything that the WWE and I already stated I believe they'd put PPV's on there. Please read posts more closely timothy.

Maybe AY know about this...

Orton beats Christian according to some spoiler chatter I saw. I also read Christian may be injured so he can't really defend the title...don't know if this is true. But it is crazy cause he just won the title.

I'm in my mid forties and cant imagine watching a 2 out of three falls match with a one hour time limit with Pepper Gomez vs Jimmy Valient. They really dont do anything which is why todays matches are so fast. The comparison to the NFL network is a good one but there is no comparing the ratings. Maybe in its prime when wrestling dominated Monday night eveing beating MNF in numbers this network could have worked but right now I see it as a money loser. Rating are way down, PPV buy rates are way down and Vince has to answer to the stockholders above all else. Another XFL debacle he doesnt need. In fairness though had the XFL been on any other nights but Friday and Saturday I think it might still be around.
