WW Z movie

Latest news- Brad Pitt has signed on to th emovie adaptation of World War Z. Having a major star means they are probably going to deviate from the "anecdotes" format of the book to follow one character...

^ That's what I have been thinking and he has been rumored to be attached to this since his Plan B company purchased the rights a couple years ago. Good to know this is progressing a bit.

I hope they fast-track this - the cultural power of zombies are fading fast, and I want to see this film. I have no idea who Pitt would play in terms of the novel's many characters. The survivor of the Battle of Yonkers?

Maybe he's the interviewer?

I doubt they'd go with the interview format for a film. Too much talking, not enough shooting. This is Hollywood, not Death of a President. Shoehorning Brad Pitt as a soldier into all the American subplots seems more likely.

It's nice that they're trying to adapt this novel and it's always fun to see Brad Pitt in anything, but the power of the novel was the way it limited your "vision" to just a series of disconnected anecdotes, which was an effect similar to a camera that shows you only one corner of the room, while you know there's Bad Things lurking just out of frame...stringing the stories into a tighter narrative will defeat the purpose.

The one overarching theme from the book seemed to be the South African "solution" that worked, but still haunts the survivors - maybe Pitt will play the sociopathic South African guy who came up with that idea.
